How about the new Heym or a Golmatic/Reimer Johansen?

Johan,

I find myself more attracted to these take-downs with a one piece stock.

I may be wrong but it seems to me that if the barrel is going over the stock fixed with two screws, instead of being attached to a for-end that is then sleeved to the stock, is probably a more durable and accurate solution.

I may be wrong, as I have no experience of both solutions.

B.Martins,

Karl-Heinz Ritterbursch also makes take-downs on his Mauser M98 action. I've been told by those who know more than me that the Ritterbursh and Johannsen type are just as accurate and long lasting as the one piece stock types. Unfortunatly, the prices are quite a bit higher too...
I know one gentelman who is waiting for his take-down in 416Rigby from Ritterbursch, since he had found the Sauer take-down system to be inferior.

BTW, I've also looked at the Mauser 03, and agree with your observations.
