This time of year I'm on a Drive Hunt just about every Saturday. They are a lot of fun and well organized. We all meet at a certain place and time, early morning, get in groups and go out to our stands from there. Drive hunts can either be boring or exciting, you either see game or you don't. But when you get a group of Wild Boar coming near you it gets very intense. I practice through the summer on the ranges and competition (DJV) on moving targets, and when hunting concentrate and try to make each shot count. The weather is warmer than usual this year, temp was in the low 40's.

From my morning stand, the view from here:

I first saw a group of three, but they were on the border, too close to call so I held my shot. A few minutes later I heard something bigger than reh or fox coming, sure enough, a group of boar came near me and stopped. Often they do not stop at all, just keep on trucking. I was lucky, got a good shot off and then all hell broke loose. Shot number two I got off and it felt good also. They were hauling, but I got a good shot number three off and watched that one drop. After the dust settled I did not know if I had hit Nr 1 and Nr 2, but was fairly confident they should be laying there, but were out of sight. After the drive ended, I dragged Nr 3 down to the trail, and confirmed Nr 2 and then Nr 1 dropped at the shot. Awright! 3 for 3! This all happened in a matter of seconds, and the first triple I've taken. All shots were between 30 and 40 meters. What a rush Cool

Blaser R93, H4350 pushing 180gr Swift A frames, Docter Optic Red Dot. I honestly don't even remember running the bolt, straight pull back and push her forward and you're in business. The time between shots on Nr 1 and Nr 2 was not long, as both boar lay within 20 meters of each other. Great rifle that I have been using just about a year now. This R93 is the Pro Stock version, a Synthetic that is great for all weather hunting.

All loaded up and ready for the trip out. This carrier stays inside my 4Runner until needed, then the frame is clamped on the trailer hitch and the bucket fits inside the frame. That's about as much weight as that carrier will take!

The best is yet to come, after the day's hunt, we all meet at a Restaurant and enjoy Schnitzel or Rumpsteak or whatever, of course washed down with a Pils Smiler. I just don't know what I'd do without that!! Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Well Dom, that is an exceptional exploit. A triple Weidmannsheil from here, and a resounding "well done"!!

There is definitely something to the speed of the R93, no wonder it is so popular for driven hunting here in Continental Europe.

Dom,

Waidmannsheil!

A Triple - You Da Man!

Couldn't agree more - first, the incredible luck of having three (or more) hapless Porkers trot by and offer you a Chip Shot - too Cool! Followed by something akin to some sort of surealistic computer game that happens in milliseconds!

Pretty impressive instinctive shooting! Outstanding!

dancing

We know who's paying for the Beer next week!

beer

Better reach into the bottom realms of your pockets 'cause I'm picking up Krewson tomorrow at the Airport - he'll be real thirsty by next Wednesday, me too.

Cheers,

Number 10

Waidmannsdank x3! Was sure a great day to be in the woods and not only that, in the right spot at the right time.

Gerry, I'll agree with ya the first was a chip shot, but after they saw their comrade fall over they were't just standing around staring at him Big Grin The lead Bacha had them all on full out 'escape' mode! There were seven in the group, shot Nr 4 would have been a Texas heart shot but I held off.

Somebody say Beer? Sorry I haven't never heard of that rotflmo Gotcha covered there Nr 10!
