Hi Everyone,

I thought I might answer a few questions. Midway only ships to dealers or shooting clubs outside the US. We currently ship to dealers in almost all the European countries and other parts of the world.

Orders shipped within the US still have to follow the State Department or Commerce Department rules about exports if it is believed that the items will leave the US. So, no bullets or brass, gun parts over $100, or scopes and sights to some countries without an export license.

MidwayNorge, MidwaySverige, MidwayDanmark, and MidwaySuomi are all separate companies that are partners with (but not owned by) MidwayUSA. These guys have incredible service even if their prices aren't the lowest for all product categories. Prices are hard to compare since they are paying the freight and VAT to import. Look for web sites like these to pop up in other countries this year.

Midway,

Nice to see you posting here and thanks for the updates.
I still can't understand why Midway USA will not do business with me. I was recently in the States but I couldn't place an on-line order with you because I have a foreign credit card address. It seems like your competitors had no problem accepting my money.
Regards,
Stu C

Mike and Stu, Thanks for your very generous offer.

I have a query out with a UK supplier at the moment.

Thanks again. Stu - I'll PM you.

Deerdogs,

It looks like Midway would be willing to ship if the order were placed through a local shooting club. As long as they don't specify a high minimum order, I think that is something that could be arranged.

Midway,

Thanks for chiming in here. If you folks have beening following this forum for any time, you should realise that this is a market in the UK for reloading and deer stalking equipment..

Regards,

Pete

Deerdogs,
Johannsen in Germany sells bullets of all the major (and also a lot of minor) brands. You can have a look at their website johannsen
I'm pretty sure that they will ship to the UK.

As the other Brits here probably already know, due to our crazy gun laws its illegal to buy SP or expanding bullet heads mail order...FMJ or solid heads are fine though!

The usual answer is to get the heads shipped to a local gun dealer if you are on friendly terms, but they then generally want to add a handling charge for it plus shipping hasto be by a special courier service, you simple can't stick the sp/expanding heads in the post. Again, solds or FMJ's heads don't come under those restrictions...

There is a lot to be said for investigating cast bullets if you own an uncommon caliber in the UK. I believe that quite reasonable velocities are achieveable these days with out "leading" the bore and cast bullets would probably be fine for practice.

Regards,

Pete

Pete,

Does that mean I can walk through UK Customs with solids without any kind of permit, or is it not that simple?

Stu - in theory yes - in practice, I suspect you would make the next issue of the national press - as an example of the sort of deadly terrorists that our efficient airport security is there to detain! Rgds Ian

Hi Richard! For woodleighs I recommend ammo-dump, Yarraville, Australia,
http://www.users.bigpond.com/ammodump/main.html

They have given me honest service. In the end their shipments have always been cheaper than domestic dealers or special delivery through dealers.

Stu,

I suspect Ian's answer is quite correct. I can't think what laws you would be breaking, but i am sure its no longer that easy!

Pete

Steve,

I haven't tried any of the Midway Europe stores, but I can't imagine you'll pay any less for those items than you would buying direct from the States. Try GRAFS , LOCK STOCK or maybe SINCLAIR

Thank you Stu C, and excuse the delay, but I was attending a course on Thursday and Friday, and I did not take a look at the topic.

Except Sinclair that does not manage Hornady products, if I remember well, otherwise I have to excuse with Mrs and Mr Gravatt, I'll take a look on the sites that you suggest.

However I can spend some extra money to pay EU Vat and have the items directly at home, rather than have to go at the post and pay customs duty, because I'm managing an import from USA, of if you prefer a not CEE country .

I really don't know which of the vary possibilities is the cheapest.

But I know that there id a good number of friends around here

bye

Steve, sounds good, but whoever you buy from, if the product comes from the US someone has to pay customs or import duties, no? It will be interesting to know what prices you find. Keep us posted.

Stu C,

Sorry for the hassle, if you give us a call and ask for the International Department we can probably help you out. The web site currently stops international CC orders as a precaution - the fines for shipping a regulated product without the proper licenses can be hefty.

Since I noticed you are from Switzerland check out www.midwayschweiz.com in the next few days. Our partner in Switzerland has a new web site.

Hi Midway, that was a useful link for us Swiss resindents! Prices are obviously somewhat higher than US prices, but that is to be expected (this is Europe and Switzerland, after all ). Still, I'm sure your Swiss partner will be able to generate a bunch of business, as he makes merchandise available that we have only been able to get from the States thus far. Great initiative, I hope your Swiss partner will fare well!

Mr. Midway,

Is there anything such as a Midway Spain?

By the way, I sent an e-mail to midwaysuomi three days ago inquiring about the availability of some Barnes stuff I intend to buy and they have not even cared to answer.

Maybe they do not understand English, in which case I can't see how can I do business with them as I do not speak Finnnish.

regards from Spain

Hi Everyone!

MidwaySpain is probably not going to happen this year. We could point you to one of our dealers in Spain. Send an email to : intl.sales@midwayusa.com and tell them what region/city you live in.

Thanks!

Ah, Midway, if you happen to see this. The "Midwayswiss" website, which I was so exited about the other day, stopped showing any merchandise (at least reloading components) available at all ( No Components Found Page... . Then I tried the contact page, and it led into a great void as well.

Does this simply mean the website is under construction, or does it mean the "Midwayswiss" idea has more or less been cancelled, and we can forget about getting hold of all of those great components it originally dangled in front of our noses??? When can we expect to order from "Midwayswiss"???
