Georg,

Used it this year for the first time, on my 9,3x62 mainly for wild boar hunting.
I am loading the 286 grains bullet at 2100 fps with very good results in wild boar and red deer.
Instant kills. Full penetration in all shots. Havent recovered a bullet yet.

Gentlemen

I have used the scenar on capericale (Tetrao urogallus) . It has worked fine. I have also used sako's semipointed FMJ in 270 with great results.

Scenar is a target bullet that according to Lapua is not intended to for hunting roe deers, fallows, wildboars etc.

Cheers

I'm afraid that using non expanding, target grade bullets is a no no in the UK for stalking. I am not surprised you have had no responses from here. I have used 69 grain scenars to good effect in my 22-250AI on fox, very accurate and effective. Rapid expansion although not as frangible as a varmint bullet. There are several posts in other parts of this forum from the states on the use of matchkings which makes interesting reading.

Guys, thanks for interesting answers. Having not tried the Scenar myself for hunting I just wondered.
Spoke to a fellow the other day that shot a Reindeer with one and claimed to be quite satisfied with the results (a full penetration). The same guy used it however on goose some days later and stated that the poor bird "evaporated" .

Interesting though that using the Scenar resulted in a full penetration when hunting tough animals like boar as Mr. Martins says.

Are you sure Mr. Martins, that you really use Lapua Scenar bullets? I thing biggets Scenars are 250 gr, .338 cal. Maybe you have used Lapua Mega bullets, 285 gr, cal. 9,3 mm.

Please,
this kind of thread has already been on AR and HA for too much time and times.

Despite of the match/target/not for hunting definition, I've used them (as Sierra Matchking too) on roe deer and Fallow deer, and many friends of mine did the same, shooting also some chamoises with it.
No problem at all, absolutely. And roe deers did not get up again complaining about the bullet choice, they just dead.
Roe deer is fragile, and I had problems only in few occasions using 139grs Scenar bullet.
Two were under 80 meters shot, bullet too fast bad kill IMHO, another one was well aimed but I hit it during a little jump, damaging the breastbone, and I fished it after some minutes.

I do not remember any other bullet failure.
Scenar, moreover are better than Sierra Matchking, always IMHO and in Match bullet hit parade.

And I hope to forget for a long time the discussion about Match vs Hunt bullets.
To explain my actual attitude I suggest to verify into the Topic about "Matchking for hunting or not" how many replies have been done.
Too much by my opinion

bye
