Can anyone tell me how to estimate the age of wild boars, I saw something about estimating age by the number of teeth but I don’t know how to do it. And what about stags, how can you estimate the age of male stags ? Thanks, Nsiro

Nsiro, the age can be estimated, for both, from the number of teeth and from the consumption state. The key word is estimate, but the age a bull of red stag is often estimated by the head bearing, by the trophy quality and "beauty", an old bull in Italy is defined "in decline" when for the age his trophy looes in quality and "beauty" bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Nsiro, If you do a search (on Google, i.e.) you will find a lot of sites explaining how to estimate the age of red deer, and wild boar, based on the number of teeth present in the animal’s jaw and also on tooth wear. You can even find some presentations of a more scientific, and probably more accurate, approach: establishing the beast age based on the number of layers of enamel on a particular tooth.
