For all you lads looking forward to taking a muntjac in the Home Counties of England. Her's one I took last night in clean antler. He walked out at absolute last light ,at about 60 metres, right in front of the high seat. A little bark held him long enough to take the shot. Clean heart and fell to the shot. ![]() ![]() These images were in pitch darkness on my mobile. So I thought a couple after it had been capped out would also be worth a look. ![]() ![]() This one should go a good silver CIC medal. Hope you have as much luck.

Puntie, WAIDMANNSHEIL! Excellent Muntie - glad he didn't hear that bullet arriving with that "Can" on your rifle! ![]() Good Photos, too! Cheers, Number 10

Nice trophy! What caliber did you use? Proud DRSS member

Nighthawk, The caliber of the rifle is 6mm PPC. I like the short case and the accuracy of the round. With the slower twist of the PPC I find that the explosiveness, often seen when using the same weight bullet in .243 Win, is reduced. Just my observation. Still kills the same.

John, The usual criteria apply. Length of beam . Mean spread ,symmetry. Extra points come from the brow tine,( the little irruption just above the pedicle). A couple of extra points , for beauty, also apply. Her's a couple more, from last year- a clean up from a piece of ground that the lease was coming to an end on. ![]() ![]() The beast on the left is a very good medal. Yet to be scored as it is still in the freezer. ![]() The one on the right is a tipical example of the muntjac All in all, it has to be a trophy that is symmetrical, long and thick in the beam. Much like some stalker's I know............ Best regards PG

When assessing a muntjac buck one of the main ways in which you can lose points is any significant differences between the antlers even if both are fairly long and thick as the difference in beam and length are deducted from the score.
