Hi,

I am hoping you all can direct me to the best place to get a wire haired teckel, German hunting terrier, or a German Wire Haired pointer.

One with some hunting blood in him, maybe even an adult dog that isn't wanting because of a move or other situation.

I don't want to spend over E500 for this guy, and hopefully less.

I will drive as far as Naples to pick one up, but I could fly up and pick him up if he was small enough for the carrier.

Let me know if you know someone,

Danke, Gracias, Gratzie, Scandahoovians and Eastern Europeans please forgive me I only know how to say thank you in so many languages.

Try some of the breed associations. I got a german hunting terrier through the German Jagdterrier Club, years ago.

These are breeds that have a reputation for how shall I say having 'character' or being 'headstrong'. If well trained or trainable they will have a value that is well in XS of the E500 so unless you are very lucky you are going to get a problem child.

I sold my own GWP problem child for £400 6years ago, trained but too difficult for my liking.

You might get lucky especialy if they have breed specific rescue outfits over there but again I warn you that these breeds are hard enough without the added complication of a previous home that hasn't worked out for whatever reason.

What do you want to use them for?

BTW a dog pup of from my own lab bitch (great on deer) is being rehomed at just over 1year old because the owner took a dog and a bitch, is doing a lot of sailing and finds 2 too much for his boat. Very good hunting lines but not hunting trained and likely a bit spoilt. If you're interested let me know and I will find out how much he wants.

wire haired teckel

Seth,

I have a wire haired teckel bitch (very fine pedigree) that will be delivering her first litter end next week.
Both parents are trained keen wild boar hunters.
If you happen to come my way by mid August…..

Now if you are really lookinng for some fun get yourself a Spaniel.....

Big Grin

Seriously, for what you will spend on a bbuddy dog you can get a decent puppy from working lines and train it up.

That was my first dog, her name was Pebbles and she was a English Springer Spaniel.

She lived until I was 15, and I have never felt a greater loss.

It will be a long time until I could own a Spaniel.

One thing is for sure.....

Spaniels have a lot of personality!! As long as you rub their tummies and tell them that they are better than all the other puppies they will make sure to keep you close!

I sometimes question why I went down the line of a crazy ESS, but I just have to put a key in the door of an evening and listen to Fern bouncing off of the walls inside to remember that it wasn't a bad idea.

If I ever get married the dog is going in the prenup!! Wink

Spaniel-attachment is true love. No dog will make you love it with it's beauty and complete lack of brains the same way.

Pre-nup sounds like a good idea. Spaniel or not! beer
