Greetings, I have some non-hunting questions for our Denmark AR members. We will have a day in Copenhagen on our way to Kangerlussuaq Greenland. Husband is doing the Polar Bear Challenge (marathon on Oct. 27th, half marathon October 28th). We are staying at the Clarion Hotel at the airport and would like to go to Tivoli Gardens. Is it an easy cab ride to get there? What are some good restaurants in Tivoli Gardens? Thank you in advance for any recommendations. The train station is in the airport. Straight into the city. Get on the wrong platform and you’ll end up in Malmö, Sweden

I agree, the train is probably the best way to go from the airport area to downtown. Tivoli is within walking distance of the train station (at least certainly for a marathoner!) Tivoli is worthwhile. Usually a lot going on, and its atmosphere is less plastic and a bit more adult than latter day amusement parks like Disney and Six Flags. We saw a great Elvis impersonator there put on a quite entertaining show. I don't recall anything other than informal "fast food" inside Tivoli (although I wasn't looking), but the surrounding area downtown has a plethora of restaurants. Depending on how much you are doing and how long you are going to be in Copenhagen you may want to look at purchasing a Copenhagen Card. If it is as it was in 2013 when we were there this gets you free/discounted access to various attractions as well as public transit.

Hi Kathi. Copenhagen here. Tivoli Gardens end their summer season late September, but they re-open on October 12th/November 4th with a Halloween theme, the Gardens will display awesome decorations all related to that, very nice and impressive. The Tivoli Gardens open at 11.00 am. Entry fee approx US 18,- pp. While Copenhagen do have a number of Michelin star restaurants, none of them are found in the Tivoli Gardens. While there are a number of decent restuarants in Tivoli, I would recommend "Groeften", a very authentic Danish restaurant, a place we always eat when we visit and often bring visitors to. You will find it here. www.groeften.dk The word "grøft" (groeft) means ditch, trench in English, but I expect the name was given, since it is a bit down hill from the main walkways. Seeing your husband is doing the Polar Bear Challenge, I do think you will both appreciate this restaurant. A few minutes from the hotel, you can buy train tickets in Terminal 3, take the escalator down to the platform and be downtown (Central Station) in a very short time. A taxi back to your hotel is an easy cab ride. I'll gladly assist in any other way, you just let me know. Kind regards Jytte
