Here is a short video (prox 8 min) from last seasons (2005) reindeerhunt here in my local mountains. I really hope you will enjoy it!
The photographer was my son who was 12, so please don’t mind that the video isn’t verry steady.

If anyone wishes to hunt with me, feel free to call, or write a pm. Ill arrange it all, and guide you to your trophy.

The licenses will be ready mid March.

Videos from caribouunting in Norway is om this site:

Hey, I've wanted to hunt Norway for years. I don't know how soon we could swing it but that is certainly one attractive idea! Hmmm, do you know Oyvind Hannisdal, by any chance? I've lost my email connection with him and if I'm going to be in country I certainly would want to visit him and his family while I was there. He used to post by the name Hannibal.

I really got the buck fever there Rino Smiler
Where about is this ?
Reindeer is the missing Norwegian big game on my list, and I might come back on your offer later on.

By the way... a splended way to raise a son !

Thanks for sharing your video Alf Rino. I'm glad to see that you and your son enjoy hunting together, and he will undoubtedly become an avid hunter like his father. thumb

Wrong. I’m not using 6,5x55, but 7x65R. I like it better since it has a rimmed cartridge, and is a bit “hotterâ€. I’m using a 140 gr. Nosler PT. and Norma MRP.

Reindeer is hunted in our mountains here and on different locations. I use to bring my clients to two areas close to my home, called Norefjell and Blefjell. The areas produce BIG trophy’s, and some of the “biggest body bulls†in Norway.
All the hunting is on foot, and you really want to “work†for your trophy. Normal days hunt starts with climb a mountain and glass for reindeer for some time. If animals are spotted the hunt is planned, and the stalk is on. If you shoot a big bull, I promise you that the rest of the day is going to be tuff. Since we can’t use cars or motorbikes, we has to carry all of the meat, skins and trophy’s out by hand
We normal use cabins during the nights, but also use tented camps in the hunting areas.
I’ll post a couple of pictures from the areas and my backpack.

Typical part of the huntingarea.

This is a midsize bull.

My son, and a nontypical bull.

The hunting is over, and the hard work is on. But here it is dinnertime.

Hi Alf

The pictures are fantastic.A few years back I bumped into a group of reindeer with very large antlers and they are extremly impressive animals. I can think of no truer way of hunting than on foot away from all the conveniences of modern shooting. If you shoot it you carry it is a quick lesson in not getting greedy with the game.
I prefer this kind of experience than just shooting a beast and then going back home leaving all the hard work to the guides.
Happy hunting

Mark

Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.
