Hi

My son and I will be traveling to Zurich in about a months time.

Any suggestions for gun shops or other hunting related activities?

Thanks for the help.

Ian, sadly there is not much in terms of gun shops in Zurich. There are a couple, but nothing like you will be used to from Canada.

If you are in Zurich on a Saturday in March, why don't we go to the range together a morning or an afternoon?? That should be a pleasant way to kill a couple of hours.

If you are only here on a weekday, maybe we can drum up the guys from the CZRNC ("Central Zurich Rifle Nut Club") - basically a bunch of AR members who have lunch together from time to time. We pass time by telling tall stories about our hunting and shooting prowess... Cool

The earlier we know when you are coming, the easier it will be to set something up.

Ian,
The best gun shops are not exactly in Zurich and they're certainly no Bass Pros.

Here are links to a couple of the better ones. Unfortunately they're all about an hour from Zurich city, and all in different directions!

Felder Jagdhof

Glaser - (it has a French page. Don't know whether that helps a Canadian or not Smiler

Waffen Wildi

Kettner

As Mike mentioned, you'd be more than welcome to join us for a lunch, range session or whateve might fit with your schedule.

Hi Micheal & Stu

We are arriving by plane on Saturday morning and will be in town till Sunday afternoon/evening. We are meeting someone and will be looking at equipment on Monday and Tuesday. I think the plan is to be back in town by Tuesday night to catch a flight back out on Wed. morning.

It would be nice to connect up at some point.

I live in northern Ontario ... not alot of gun shops around. Just looking for anthing that would interest someone in hunting or shooting.

Thanks for the help. I look forward to hearing form you.

Ian

A great day on the range with Ian (ilw on AR) from Ontario!! Ian and son Ben flew in from Chicago, and in spite of jetlag made it to the Embrach range with StuC within a couple of hours of touching down in Zurich! We managed to shoot quite a few rifles, and most of the positions shot on our range - plus a few more "exotic" ones.

Ben easily took the honours of the "shooter of the day". Boy, can that lad shoot!

Thanks for a great day on the range and great company, guys!

Mike & Stu,

As ususal you guys are great AR host in Zürich! Glad you guys had a great day at the range!

I was thinking about you guys at your range opening weekend, since we weren't too awfully far away in Grindelwald having a nice ski weekend!

Cheers,

Ian and Ben,

It was truely a pleasure to meet you. Not often one meets such nice folks, and we seem to have hit it off right from the bat!

Tell Ben we'll be delighted to have him come back up from Florenz, when he makes it over there. Hop on a train, and spend the weekend. We'll keep the Sako ready with lots of ammo on hand... Wink

i have a question: did you speak german? If yes would it be OK when i send you an e-mail in german? I have a question because of bringing hunting rifles from Germany to zürich.

Absolutely! I'm usually too lazy to write my imperfect German, but I have no trouble either reading or speaking it. I might see an AR "PM" over the weekend I won't see my regular mail until Tuesday next week.

Normally, it is no big deal to bring rifles into Switzerland. Is this for a particular occasion, or are you permanently moving them here??
