Too high and far back on the boar, but good on the other 3 the boar only went 50 150y so not too embarrassing.

Ghubert I did not take the time to read all of the other replies so if I am repeating someone I apologize.
In all honesty it sounds like a simple lack of confidence is all.
Obviously you are indeed a good shot, being humble and all is nice but being realistic there is not one shooter in a hundred that can put 10 in a wheelbarrow at a thousand, let alone a 10" circle.
So its not your shooting, it is in my opinion your confidence in your shooting under field conditions.
It is a common trait of younger hunters that I have seen to shoot for the middle,, and even though your trying to bring it tighter in at the moment of truth you fudge for the center of the biggest target area.
Think about it, where you are describing that you are hitting is exactly dead center of body mass.
Your doing nothing wrong really, you just need a few more under your belt.
Something to remember perhaps is to simply go for the shoulder shot.
Yes you will waste a little meat, but in short order you will have the confidence to pull exactly where you want.
I can still remember when I went through the same process.

Thank you Gentlemen for all your help.

The solution seems to be more study of deer anatomy, more looking at pictures of deer and finally shooting more deer!

The advice about the psychological component of taking the shot was particularly interesting, I felt that bucko and others have perhaps likely put their finger on it.

Thanks again fellas.

Best REgards,

Amir

ps. I am sorry it has taken so long to reply to thread, my only excuse is that I have had my first weekend out on the town since October last year, not as according to the cheap seats as a Lady GaGa, and was away from a computer for a few days Wink.

All I can say to those tabloid-reading, Vanessa Feltz-watching, Heat magazine-buying, Paris Hilton-quoting elements of of the once civilised and gentlemanly forum that existed here is that reports of my illness have been greatly exaggerated moon

Amir,

You're in danger of committing my sin:

Thinking too much and going through a mental checklist before pulling the trigger.

Maybe you should just mount the rifle and whack it without focussing on any of the components?
