It was allready 8 AM and I was on my way back from the hunt with dog aside, rifle on my back and camera in hand, when I spotted a movement in the bush - a roe - I thought to myself and start to take photos - it turned out it was a buck... ...after buck made some steps forward, I managed to get a clearer picture - and omg - it was that old acquaintance of mine, that left me drymouthed so many times before... ...wheee the fun began - camera in the bush, dog went down by silent "psst" and 9,3x62 showed no mercy... ...portrait... ...RWS 19g TUG bullet went in on a shoulder... ...and reasonable exit on the hind ribs shows that 9,3x62 does make a lot of sence, even with critters that size (app. 20kg)

Mouse, Way to Go Buddy! Very nice Buck, very nice "Raking Shot"; he died! It appears as a Buck to have good weight, too. Good Photos & Nice Shooting! The 9.3 reigns! In Germany he would be rated as an "Uneven 8-Pointer" "Ungerader 8er"; which means 7 points. Each point (tine) counts as one you can hang a ring on! Anything over six points is Bragging Rights! Waidmannsheil! Cheers, Number 10

Thanks a lot guys - Gerry Weidmannsdank trans-pond - if I`d knew it was that fella from the moment I spotted him there would be no prior-shooting pics ... Arild - since I have shot some amount of roebucks, and taking part in hunting with clients every year + tracking wounded ones (all those counts for me as I would taken them myself) - I found myself quite choosy - so I set myself some awkward norms - buck should be old, or CIC medal rank or nontipical (tho errors are not excluded ) and it can take some time to find and shoot one (I shoot the one before two years ago and pass some 80 different bucks in the meantime)- still waiting for a medal scoring buck tho (we save those for clients)...so if there is an interest I will try and make some pics of my recent bucks trophies - some funny stuff there... I saw that same buck last year during the rut when he was chasing doe, he lived exclusivelly in the forest (he did not come out on the meadow to feed) and that kept him alive so long (none of my hunting pals ever saw him), hunting in a bush as you see in the pics is like seek and hide and can drive you nuts - so it was pure luck that brought him around that morning especially the way it happened ...

Well done Mouse. Thank you for posting the photographs. The dog, what breed is it and how do you find them as a stalking companion?

Congratulation and thanks for the nice pictures! Sometimes surprisingly, 8 AM seems to be a good time to shoot roe in summer...
