Sorry if this is a bit off-topic... I got invited on a trip with my old man. Germany and England. We are visiting friends, and my Dad and them are going to their model train mecca. I am more or less along for the ride. So we not going to the normal "big" cities... I will be spending 4 days in Goppingen Germany, and 5 days in Knutsford England. I enjoy traveling and going to different places for its own sake, but I was wondering if there were any cool museums or local sights I should make a point of seeing in those particular areas. If there is something cool gun-related, even better. "The envious are not satisfied with equality; they secretly yearn for superiority and revenge."

Edit: I was having a senior momnet this morning and convinced myself you were going to be in Kent, but you're not - you'll be 300 miles north in Cheshire, where there's nothing of any interest at all shooting wise Kent's worth a visit though... As you're going to be in Kent, take time to visit the Cotton-Powell Museum of Natural History at Quex Park - it is a pint-sized shrine to the late 19th century tradition of adventurous specimen collecting safaris to Africa and India, with one of the best taxidermy collections I've seen anywhere. Well worth a visit if you have any interest in African hunting and the history of safaris. If you're at a loose end one evening or morning, you could always shoe-horn in a few hours Fallow stalking with us in East Sussex...

Here's another vote for the Powell Cotton Museum...... but check opening times before you visit as (IIRC) they're quite restricted. http://www.quexpark.co.uk/museum/ I'm going from memory and might be completely wrong but get an idea there's some kind of WWII/RAF or air museum either in or somewhere near Knutsford? Possibly also some good fishing in that neck of the woods. I'd also recommend a bit of stalking with Adam if you have time.

You could take a trip to Knutsford City Limits and go celebrity spotting in neighbouring Alderley Edge. That should waste half a day. For my money, I'd take off and do some real stalking. You're quite close to Scotland there and the opportunity to shoot a big Red....not to be wasted. Hi TwoZero, if I see it correct then Goppingen is close to Stuttgart. So you could visit Mercedes-Benz Museum or Porsche Museum in case you are interested in cars: Mercedes Museum Porsche Museum Beside of cars you are in an excellent area for beer. Between Ulm Goppingen and Stuttgart a lot of breweries exist which sometimes have museums and things seminars. In Theory Blaser is not too far away (2h drive) where the Blasers, Sauer and Mauser is produced but I don't think they have a museum or something similar. It seems they have a shooting cinema which can be booked for groups including product introduction and company history... but have to be 8 persons minimum. Only German link existing (sorry). I was never there and never heard anything about it. Just found it in net internet. Blaser Shooting Cinema Edit: Of course Ulm and its cathedral would be nice to visit: Munster Ulm

Bit to the SW of Goeppingen, but the Mauser Museum in Oberndorf is pretty neat. OBERNDORF -------- There are those who only reload so they can shoot, and then there are those who only shoot so they can reload. I belong to the first group. Dom ---------

Knutsford is in CHESHIRE. Some reasonably good hunting within distance but other than that I cannot suggest much
