I am considering a Steyr SBS Classic Full stock in 6.5x55 and even though I own three other SBS rifles (they are all Pro Hunters), I don't know what to expect for accuracy for the stutzen in wood. Any thoughts? Also any thoughts on mounts? There are not any Steyr original swing mounts in stock at the factory in Austria or here in America. I have the 1913 rail on the 450 Steyr, Talleys on the 376, and Warne weaver style bases with those big warne rings on the 308 I own.

I have only shot 3 full stocks and 1 was a swede, you will find that they shoot upto about 2" at 100 yards.Whilst on the face of it this doesnt sound good it is still within minute of deer.I found and others have told me that ammo sellection is the key, and, if you handload then this is the way to go.the problem is fit of the wood to the barrel if there are any pressure points then this will be the problem, I myself had a full stock rifle built in Farlach (no makers name) in 7x57 this was a dream to shoot and because they are made for traditional stalking (not from a high seat) they point and carry superbly.I would, without question get another if i needed one,you could get lucky and pick up a shooter(1/2") or you might not, but in the process you will learn to shot better and that is always better. Good luck and superb choice of caliber.
