Hi all,

I'm off to RSA in a couple of months to shoot some francolin ducks Geese and guinea's and I'm having a bit of a dilemour regarding shot gun shells.

Basically I would like to take a 20b but the shells are not available apart from 26g of 4's. The alternative is Diana shells in 12b but I have never come accross them before.

Basically my concern is that the last time I shot shells I didn't know it took me a while to get the hang of them as they seem to be incredibly slow.

Does anyone have any eperience of this brand, or any ideas of how I coud get a couple of thousand shells out there for my team?

It seems a long way to go and be risking shooting sub standard shells if we can help it, although it might turn out to be a handy excuse!!

Kiri, Diana are cheap Spanish shells. I bought a couple of cases here for shooting clays, around £30/flat.

They do a job, they go bang when fired. That's about it.

If you are used to Pure Gold or Eley VIP, you might not be massively impressed.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thanks Brian,

I'm pretty adaptable, but I did have some issues when using obscure shells that hit a bird and don't kill it beyond 25-30yards. I was spending more time chasing running sandgrouse around when I should have been shooting them with UK hunter last time!!

Kiri,

For the somewhat limited amount of bird shooting we've done in RSA everywhere we've gone the Spanish Saga's were what was given to us.

Brian's opinion reflects our expereinces also; if you are used to "premium" brand cartridges they were not on par.

Cheers,

Gerry,

Saga's were also on offer so I think I may be going for them.

I'm going to take 250 RC20's for the 20 bore and buy 250 12bore shells out there for the geese and any high volume stuff we hit on.
