Hello all! Does anybody have any experience, good or bad, with Vihtavouri N150 in 243 Winchester or 6mm Remington? I shoot 6mm Remington, actually, but know that I can safely use 243 Winchester loads in it. The Vihtavouri Manual says 32.4 gns MAX with a 100 grain bullet. AND IT IS WITH THAT WEIGHT I AM SHOOTING. Have found a tin of it left over from when I shot 303 British and wonder if it is any good for these smaller calibres with lighter bullets at higher velocities. Thanks in advance!

No direct experience but if you would like me to run a QL simulation, just let me know. Case H2O capacity to overflow and barrel length to boltface would be handy for those calcs if you do want them.

n150 is all i have used in a 243 ackley for a number of years now, ive looked through my loading journal because i did load a batch of 95gn partitions a long time ago, but i cannot find the exact load. i do always come back to 68gn g&c custom with 45.5 gns of 150, occasionally i switch to n550 because they do very well.

Great powder but I would not use it for those cartridges with that weight bullet. My experience is that it can act a bit strange when it's at the fast end of the spectrum for cartridge/bullet combinations. Witness the VV data has lower charge weights for N150 than N140 in some 243 applications. It is great with 70gr bullets in 6mm rem - from memory 3,500fps but I wouldn't go heavier.

My thoughts are the same as yours just posted. Thus the original purpose of my post. That nobody actually seems to have a load for N150 with a 100 grain bullet at anything like 2,800fps says it all, I think!
