Good stuff Brad, drop me a line if you are flying through London!

Take a midge net for your head, when the little bastards start biting you on the eyeball you'll realise why the Scottish midge is pound for pound the most voracious predator on earth... Big Grin

I have been introduced to the wee little bastards.

That is why I have Three Midge nets. If it gets bad I may wear all three...

I would love to meet up with you but I am only in London for a few hours on my way home.

Enjoy it. I have a week taking some German up to Torridon stalking. Then back down to Edinburgh for some Roe stalking. And then dinner with some mad American comparing notes on wooden boats and the delights of crawling through Scottish feeding the midges!!!!

Hi Brad

Hope you have a great hunt up there. I'm going up in November to shoot a few hinds in Perthshire.

Thanks Guys,

I will post a report if I can figure out a new site for image hosting. Apparently Photobucket no longer works.

I am counting down the days!

Last few days becoming very much cooler, with a real nip in the air at night. Expect a touch of frost up in the highlands anytime soon. Gets rid of the midges and brings the stags down.

Keep an eye on http://www.mwis.org.uk/scottish-forecast/WH/ - forecasts for the mountains.

But we often get an "Indian Summer" towards the end of September - a period of fine and settled weather and often warm in the day, but with a cold nip in the air.

At the moment forecast is that we will be getting tail end of the latest hurricane - so good gales coming in.

Yea, I have been watching the weather waiting for it to cool down.

The last time I was there in September two of the days were absolutely amazing, a few scattered showers followed by bright sunny 70 degree weather. It made for some amazing pictures. But to be honest I live in California and don’t go to Scotland for sun.

I will say that I usually have bad luck in my timing when I come to the UK, I have been there for two Foot and Mouth Outbreaks, a Petrol Crisis, and one Heat Wave. I was there for almost three weeks, it down poured rain the first day and I walked to the pub to get a beer got soaked and I ended up getting a cold. The rest of the trip it was sunny and I was sick, my wife laughed at me.

The Petrol Crisis was fun we were stuck in the lake district and the beer tap at the hotel broke! The owner of the hotel did not know what to make of the American guest that crawled under the bar to redo the beer plumbing. But they were happy when I fixed the tap!

I am hoping that it will be a little cooler this time as I had my tweeds made with very heavy weight cloth and they are quite warm. I am hoping for some Scottish weather.

My friend just told me that Invermark has extra days of stalking now because the grouse season was poor, I wish I could pull off another week I have always wanted to stalk on Invermark.

I guess you'll pick up the whiskey in Scotland, that's your midge repellent. tu2

Best wishes for your hunt.
