What companys produce optics that can be mounted on the Blaser rail mount system. I want to put a 3-12x50 or 3-10x50 ish scope on my D99 when I get it and I don't know who all makes them other than Swarovski, Ziess, and Schmidt and Bender.

I know Kahles makes a rail mount but I don't know if it will work with that system.

I was hoping Docter did but I don't beleive they do, do they?

The Blaser mounts can be had for either the internal mounting rails of Zeiss or the new (look-alike) internal rails for Swarowski or S&B. These are the best mount system available, IMHO - although I have to point out, I have only tried the Zeiss internal rail, and only up to a .375 H&H. Worked fine.

Older rails scopes from Swaro, S&B or current rail scopes from Kahles or Docter are so-called "prism" rails. In contrast to the internal rails, these have to be drilled for mounting. That means they can't be remounted (on same or other gun) with no signs of previous application. In addition, there is the chance that during the mounting of a prism rail scope, that the scope gets canted in the mount - pretty tough to get right sometimes.

IMHO, in order of attractiveness (?) for mounting systems, the list would look like:
- internal rail (Zeiss, new Swaro or S&B)
- prism rails
- central tube rings
- objective rings

It is hard to go wrong with either a Zeiss, Swaro or S&B. Exactly which one you prefer, or can get a deal on, is a pretty personal matter.

The zeiss is by far the best rail mount. I have 3 of them on my heavily used personal R93's. They compliment the Blaser system and we reccomend them without fault

The Blaser mount is no longer protected. There is another mount available for their rifles from a third manufacturer at a lower price. Frankonia carries it already.

I have noticed that there are several rail mounts, and saddle mounts avaliblle for the R 93, I have even seen quite a few custom guns that use the R 93 system to mount a scope. I have looked at the Swarovski mount and the S&B mount too. The Zeiss in my mind is very strong and simple, The Swaro. has lots of merits but the avalibilty in the states and the mounts is very, very limited. Zeiss is very willing to import their system and stock some numbers of the rail mount. I sell every one I can get it is really the best way to scope a Blaser.
