I have a 30/40 Krag rifle that I bought a year ago for nostalgia. It is one of 5,000 made carbine versions, and turned out to be worth a lot more than I paid for it.

An added benefit was that this thing will shoot 3 inch groups with open sites at 200 yds. Considering the eyesight of the guy pulling the trigger, this is amazing with an 1898 barrel on it.

At a gun show I saw a person trying to sell a Norwegian Krag, that was in rusty condition, for a lot more than I thought it was worth. However in my modest collection of historical military rifles I have or desire to have, the Krag in 6.5 x 55 did hit my list after seeing one.

Can they be found in Norway? If so at a reasonable cost if they are in good shootable shape. I have heard Norwegians are more users than collectors, so they take care of stuff.

Sure would like a comeback from anyone in Norway or the rest of Scandanavia on if these old gals are still around.

Try this link here, Trond might be a guy that can help you out. I do have a cople of Krag my selves, but I don't use them anymore. Krag J�rgensen whas the no one marksmanrifle in Norway, then come tha Mauser M67 and now a days the Sauer STR.

I do also have a american Krag bulit as a modern hunting rifle in 30-40Krag, can't seems to find ut who makes it, on the bakelite recoil pad the name "BISON" is stated. Do you know who made this rifles??

An American built Krag, if it is a military rifle then It was built by the Springfield Armory. I believe from 1892 to around 1902. Not being an expert, I would think the the recoil pad saying Bison ( another name for Buffalo) is probably the name of the company that made the recoil pad not the rifle. It sounds like it has been a sporterized one of the Military rifle.

If original Military rifle condition, it should have a 30 inch barrel unless it's serial number range is between 125,000 and 130,000 where it is a carbine version. This is what I have and is worth considerable money to collectors here, as it is rare production.
