How early do you start seeing signs of the fallow rut in your neck of the woods? Two years ago I saw a lot of activity from 5 October onwards. Last year, I only saw a little rutting behaviour at the tail end of October... Can you tell I am having trouble waiting for October to come around this year?

Boggy, We occasionally get some grunting in late September, most of it is Amir trying to get up into the high seat but some comes from the deer!! Last year was very quiet. most people our way said the rut was a non event, but the farmer this year has seen several bucks move about and they seem to be staking their claims. I will be out in earnest from next week when I get a freer diary so if you fancy a sit out let me know. K

I saw a pricket that was very keen to be near a solitary doe last week. Need a bit of cold weather. I think they will start moving about a bit next week and might start smelling the week after. Great time of year!
