Hi guys,
This hunting season is closed and we are thinking at the next year.
All of us have some dreams, my is to hunt one Elk in Norway. But I don't know wenn hunting season is and if this is possible without to pay an specialized hunting-agency. Some years ago I hunt as guest in Germany, is this possible also in Norway???
I'm not looking for an extraordinary trophy, just live an outstanding hunting experience with real hunters... (like me). archer
Thanks
Faina

i assume you mean moose?(elg in norwegian).
season starts 25.sep.
i'm sorry i can't help you out, there is no problem beeing a guest hunter, you've just have to find someone to hunt with.

if you like i can post your thread on the norwegian hunting/shooting/gun forum together with some contact information?

Faina.
Moose hunting for foreigners ain´t that easy to come by.
Big game hunting in Norway is strictly regulated, and basicly it is the landowners who has the right to hunt.

There is also government land for lease, but one has to participate in a draw, and there are restrictions about who can attend.

If you don´t get in touch with somebody who can take you in as a guest hunter, the only solution is to book a hunt with one of the very few agencies who take foreigners hunting.
I know there are some, but I have no adress at the time beeing.

I have the impression though, that it is a bit costly.

Perhaps Sweden would be a better shot.
I have the impression that guided hunting is a much bigger industry in Sweden than in Norway.
(they don´t have our terrific landscape though Cool

Thanks guys,
it's an idea, it's a dream. We have time to organize this.
Yes, it's easier to book a hunt with an agency, but this will cost me like a new car!!! And in most case you'll not live an real hunting experience like if you hunt with local hunters.
For me isn't important the trophy, much more is to have contact with people that live in this countrys, to hear here hunting stories, here experience. This will made me rich, not a wonderful trophy!!!
Maybe, it's a dream.

Why norway ? Maybe it's easier in sweden or finland ? It's really easy to organize here in Estonia, but we don't have mountains so, not the same landscape Smiler

Faina,

Just know that if you hunt with the Norwegians you will come away with a great desire to grow a huge moustache and drink thet rockt fuel they call aquavit....

I am managing to resist as I have only hunted with them in the UK but the Moustache is definately still a possibility!!

Un di' o l'alter vegni si' a pruval (In dialetto vigezzino spesso la u si trasforma in i e viceversa Cool)
Mia nonna era di Bitegn (Buttogno) di S.Maria Maggiore.

For our not Italian speaking friends:
A day or another I'll come to taste the genepy (the text between the parenthesys is and explication of a carachteristic of the dialect of Val Vigezzo that often change the u letter with the i letter and viceversa)

We digress a little but...

I was in Serbia a few weeks back looking at some property in the mountains. Every time we stopped to look at something one of he neighbours would come out with a bottle of home made Raki and insist we drank some. The difference in quality was substantial bbut after a couple you didn't care!!

I never got cold in three days!!

Everyone seemed to have Damson trees in their gardens and they virtually all drank the stuff that they made out of the damsons.

Genepy though is fabulous stuff. I drank it in France while skiing once and just as I was getting into my stride the barman hid the bottle in the Chalet because apparently I didn't respect it enough!!

Hi

Here is one provider that looks serious:
http://webtemp.telenor.net/naturfritidas.tmp/hXGXAnhdbKZN.6.idium

You might wanna try to go to www.sluttstykket.no, it's a norwegian hunting/gun forum, might have some more luck there.

If it was posible I would have invited u myself, but I'm not going to be in Norway in the moose season this year.. Or the next 3 years for that matter Frowner . Maybe sometime in the future..

Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something.

Johan
