Suggestions for Hunting Trip in July

I would like to take my son (17) on an overseas hunting trip July 2014. The trip would be 7-10 days split between hunting and sight seeing. I am casting about for good reasonably priced ideas and realize this request may seem impossibly broad but would genuinely appreciate your suggestions. What hunting is available in Europe in July? Any recommendations for outfitters/trip options?
Thank you

Roe deer!! I can set you up in the U.K. if you would like some info.

Many members of the forum can do the same. Wild boar may be more available plus a roe deer in mainland Europe during this time as well.

Best of luck!!

Sir, you can also try Romania. In July you can hunt roe deer and wild boar and also visit the famous Dracula Castle in the same trip.

Pretty much anywhere in Europe can offer you what you want so you're spoilt for choice. Perhaps you need to decide what species you'd most like to hunt, what climate you want to hunt in and what sort of sights you want to see.

Portugal might be worth considering because we have so much interesting history and architecture and the hunting is pretty good albeit not marketed very much and with that in mind, you might like to read this; HUNTING IN PORTUGAL

Here's just one of the views of Sintra near Lisbon that is chokka block full of sights worth seeing and the country also has lots of Knights Templar castles etc to see..... to say nothing of the beaches. Smiler

If you're on Facebook and want to see more of the history & architecture of Portugal, you might like to look here: https://www.facebook.com/regressarasorigens?fref=ts

I should say, I have no commercial interest in marketing Portugal. I just happen to live here and like it very much indeed. Smiler

Hi Hight Desert

July is one of the best months to visit Portugal.
We are established since 1923 and we know very well how to fulfil our clients requests.
We can offer you the best and the most beautiful places to visit and stay.
Portugal is not so expensive as the others Europeans countries.
Our hunting programs for Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Roe Deer, Wild Boar, Muflon, Red Leg Partridge, Ducks, Pigeons and Upland game have caught the attention of the SCI Members, in Las Vegas, last January. The main hunting season is from August to the end of February, but in July we can offer you, Roe Deer, Mouflon and Wild Boar hunts. This last one only during full moon phase period waiting at the baits.

July is the best time to be at the sunny beaches with white sands and surfing waves, to visit monuments and museums, do cruises at the rivers and taste the delicious nectar at the Port Wine cellars, run the green golf ranges and dive in the Portuguese folklore present all around the country or only relax surround by cork trees, waiting for the sunset at the porches of one of our hunting lodges, nearby the pool desk tasting your favourite drink.

I will glad to help you to get a lifetime hunt in Portugal.

Portugal is great but in July I think you will still be looking at deer in velvet a for both the Reds and the Fallow especially at the begining of the month.

The only pother option is a boar hunt under the moon, so you will be able to hunt for 8 days before the full moon and one day after the full moon. Full moon is on the 12th July this year.

For me July is Roe Rut time so UK and Scotland is great as is some of C+E Europe.

Best regards,
K

Arjun Reddy must be in the African bush on a hunt, or he would have ressponded re: roe deer in France. Google him for more info. Have a great hunt, wherever you go!

Mid-summer seems not the best time to hunt most European species (and many seasons are not open in July). I'd save my European hunting for later in the year. Why don't you go to southern Africa, where it is winter and in the heart of the best hunting period? Namibia offers lots of very economical hunting, along with great sight-seeing. A plains game hunt there likely costs no more, and possibly less, than a quality European hunt.

Roe deer buck hunt in July is perfect.
That is when the rut is.
Hunting rutting Roe bucks by calling them is a great experience.

Most places in Europe where you can hunt Roe bucks in July, you can also combine it with some Wild Boar hunting and also Mouflon some places.

Thank you to all who have replied. There are many superb opportunities and I hope to take advantage of them in the years to come. At present, it looks like we are settling on dividing our time between Austria and Slovenia. If any of you know of opportunities for 2-3 days of hunting (roe deer or boar or other) in that area in late July to early August, I would be grateful. I recognize that it is not much time but we are trying to economically accommodate as much as we can.
thanks!
