Are any 6.5x52R's being made?

I REALLY want a single shot (or perhaps a double) rifle in 6.5x52R (.25-35 Winchester) and wondered if anything is currently being produced in that chambering in Europe - or, if anyone has any leads on any for sale?

I suspect that somewhere someone is making a kipplauf in that. You'll need to check the major manafacturers sites before turning to the Ferlach area.

Whew!

Good question.

There's certainly plenty of 5.6x52R's (22 Savage High Power) floating around in single shots, combo rifles & Drillings. Doing a re-chamber & re-bore on a combo or Drilling or something similar is way out my league.

Used to see many "Neiderwild Drillings" (= small game Drillings) chambered for some exotics, especially the 30/30 Winchester. Not too common any more.

Vast majority of rimmed cartridges in this class would be the 6.5x57R - and ther's many of those available. I know three with such chambered Drilings. As for double rifles ususally the smallest common chambering is 7x57R.

The first thing that springs to my mind other than a sexy old antique Teutonic single shot rifle would be a T/C Contender or Encore in such a chambering.

Keep your eye open at Waffen Frank in Mainz (used rifle specialists, www.gebrauchtwaffen.spezialist.de) or E-Gun.

Good Luck

Cheers,

Thanks for the input. I have thought about a T/C Contender, but don't think I can abide that pistol grip. I'll check the E-Gun and Waffen Frank you mentioned. Thanks.

You can buy one of these fantastic Blaser K95 single shot rifles in 5.6x50 mm R. Then you have it modified to the excellent 6.5x50 mm R Reb cartridge.

The German ammo developer Werner Reb has developed this round because the original 5.6x50 mm R (the metric equivalent to your .223 but with rim) destroyed too much meat on roe deer.

This round was developed so that old 5.6 mm barrels can be rebored. Since Mr. Reb cooperates closely with Blaser, they also offer factory chamberings for his 8.5x63 mm (R) rounds, you could even check if the Blaser factory is willing to do that by themselves. At least they should be able to point you to a competent gunsmith. Their customer service is known to be very good and helpfull.

If I had tons of money I would get one with two sets of barrels, in 6.5x50 mm R Reb and 8.5x63 mm R Reb. With that "Reb Special 2009 Edition" there is no need for anything else anymore...

How is the modification carried out? Rebore or rebarrel. I want a 6x50R scheiring but can't work out the most efficient way of getting it.

If I remember it well, these rounds are designed so that old 5.6 mm barrels can be rebored. Scheiring is a gun maker in Ferlach, I would contact him directly.

Sorry for my late reply, I was away abroad.
