The first CZRNC training session at the shooting range has been held on 23rd April 2005. Some members of the Accuratereloading.com Forum where present. The weather was nice. But please see this Webpage for more information:

Nice day on the range, great company, nice weather, good shooting and friendly competition. Thanks for showing up to all present - in particular to Gerry, who had to make his way all the way down from Frankfurt. We'll do this again - another 6 hours of solid shooting... phew!

Looks like you guys have a nice shooting range, and obviously had some good fun.

And it must be nice and warm with all that green grass. Everything is still brown and dead here (I'm an hour north of Oslo at the moment), and will be for another month...

What is that metal/wire thing hanging next to Mike on the bottom picture?

AR has again done what it set out to do: To get Shooters & Hunters together to exchange experiences, views, opinions & lots of BS!



We'd had enough virtual BS so decided to get together at the CZRNC - Central Zurich Rifle Nut Club to meet each other and pop some caps. A hand selected multi-national group, 1 Australian (StuC), 1 American (Gerry), 1 Dane (mho) & 1 Swiss (Collani).

A great time was had by all.....especially StuC, a sterling stud who needs to give us lessons on how to get out of the house. StuC is a really resourceful guy who can get a baby sitter, manage to disappear for 8 hours to go shooting - shoot a one hole group (no BS!), have lunch, drink a couple of beers and make it back home in time to pack and get to the airport with family to fly to Australia. Net, a superhuman feat that the rest of us have not yet mastered. StuC definately gets awarded the first order of the Knights of the CZRNC. Mrs. Gerry wouldn't let me out of her sight on trip day, let alone approve a kitchen pass to the rifle range to meet with cronies! Yes, I've missed flights before for less better reasons than CZRNC!!!!!!



mho for putting me up at this place - thank you for the invitation and gracious hospitality! It works like this: Arrive, talk about guns, reloading & hunting. Drink beer, talk about guns, reloading & hunting. Go to dinner (great Greek place eat lots of heavily garlic laced food & drink beer!), get stopped on the way to resturant at German border and receive idiot lesson from German Customs official for having

ammunition in auto

talk about guns, reloading & hunting. Return home at midnight, go to reloading room and talk about guns, reloading & hunting (mho allows Gerry to rummage through well organized reloading room!) Drink beer, talk about guns, reloading & hunting until 05:00.

Wake up at 09:00, drink much fluid to extinguish garlic & beer fire in throat! Talk about guns, reloading & hunting, log onto AR (you never know we might have missed something in 10-12 hours! Plus we get to talk trash in private about other AR members - anyone with a guilty concience?)

Go to CZRNC, meet StuC & Collani, talk about guns, reloading & hunting and actually pull the trigger a few times. Have informal shooting contest at various distances, using ever samller sized targets and from different shooting postions. Talk about guns, reloading & hunting when not shooting. Gerry wins all evens even when flinching with both eyes closed. Reason is simple: accomplice is drinking beer on Gerry's tab all day while continually plunking five .222 Remington's into small clusters from adjacent shooting lane. Gerry graciously smiles and accepts compliments from all while orbiting his .224 bullets over the burm.

Probably either the target, or the wires the targets run back and forth on. Each (100 & 150m) lane has 2 targets that alternate, one in the shooting (target) position, and one next to the shooter, to allow you to check out the damage. There is also a wire mesh fence between the shooting positions of each lane.

Embrach's target system is pretty old (1967), so the guy who maintains it is fighting a constant battle to keep it running. Still, Embrach is one of the better and more accessable ranges around North Central Switzerland.

Gerry, happy to see you made it home in one piece! I was a bit worried you had to drive Saturday night. I was pretty zonked out myself, and had an early night... Cool you could be bothered to come down, we'll turn this into a tradition! Next time, perhaps some of our other Swiss, German, French, Austrian, Italien members would care to join??

Looks great! We have a similar "club" on Sundays. It was rainy, but it was still a day at the range!!

If permitted of course - I may qualify as a rifle nut (with quite some interference from shotgunning), but I do not come from central Zurich).

It was great meeting you sharing some shooting, reloading & hunting experiences.

It is also a real wake-up shooting next to you with your whiz-bang going off in my ear! That 10.3x60R aka 450/400 23/8" BPE is a real boomer! You shot some great groups with it, also!

Count on me, I'll come for the next event in Zurich.
Hosting You in Strasbourg, why not, could be fun. First I have to ask Wifezilla.

Except for the period that goes from 21 of June to 11 of July, I'll be in Namibia, I'm ready to travel to partecipate. If I'll have an "official invitation letter" I can manage also to bring rifle and ammo.

Guys, you are definitely on the list! We can also handle an invitation letter, no sweat.

This year, we produced a marvellously looking (if I may say so myself ) invitation letter. The letter head said: CZRNC, Hunting and Shooting Association (all in German naturally). This invitation letter was meant to act as an aid in crossing borders with various amounts of rifles and ammo. Needless to say, nowhere did it state that "CZRNC" stands for "Central Zurich Rifle Nut Club" - I figured that would not sound sufficiently official to be of any help at the border .
