I think the Lapula mega tip bullets are awesome. They are made for moose so they are tough.I use the 155 gr 6.5 mm in my 264 win mag.I have shot 3/8" groups at 200 yards .Thats pretty awesome.

I have taken down mooses with MEGA...exellent hunting bullet for medium size game.
I just wonder that 300WM is FOR SURE enough for boar
I just think the saving of meat, you dont need to use the hottest loads

Lorenzo,

I have been using Mega bullets for some time now, specially for wild boar (both on driven hunts and by moonlight).
I have taken the last boar on the full moon of the 2nd of this month. It was not that big (just 68 Kgs) and was shot at around 40 meters and dropped on the spot.
During last season I have taken a few wild boar and two red stags with the Lapua Mega (9,3x62 286 grains) and find the bullet to be very effective and reliable.

Hi

I use Laupa Mega 185 grain bullets in my 308winchster. Factory loading. Think they are relatively cheap bullets that will do the job. Like the protected/flat point. Haven't shot any game with them yet, hope do get some red deer and roe this autom. Never heard anything bad about them. Accurasy is okay.

Hi

Havn't been home in Norway since x-mas so I haven't heard anything about the Mega not beeng prodused anymore.

I pay around 28 Euro(230NOK) for 20 rounds. Compared to Norma oryx or nosler witch is about 49 Euro(400NOK) it's cheap.

Asked om Lapuas web page www.lapua.com if it's true, I will post any reply as soon as I get one. There is a list of distributers on the page.

I have used factory loaded 185 gr Mega in .30-06 for moose. I have shot two moose with it, but Mega didn't impressed me very much.

First was shot at distance of about 35 yards. Bullet went trough the moose. Exit hole was not bigger than the hole on the other side of the moose. Moose ran about 350-400 yards after the hit. Bullet was hit in the heart and other soft tissues and I think, it didn't expanded at all.

Second was shot at distance of about 50 yards. Two bullets was found in the moose. Other was mushroomed quite a good, but the other was opened too far. Almost to the bottom of the bullet. The moose didn't go far, but it was still standing quite a long time. At least I felt, it was a very long time.

Here in Finland, Mega is cheap. Box of 20 cartridges costs 24 , Norma Oryx 29 (in .30-06)

Mega is accurate and although my experiences let something to hope for, it is however a good bullet for moose and boar. And I think, that 200 gr bullet is even better than that in 185 gr.

But if you are looking for a GOOD bullet, you should try Lapua Naturalis. There is a 200 gr Naturalis for 300 WM.

Mega bullet is Ok for animals like moose and smaller,on normal shooting ranges, which are usually less than 120m.
My favorite cal is 30-06,which is one of the most wersatile cals ewer. When I partisipate in bear hunt,I take my 375HH where I use 300gr NoslerPartitions, but this is only because a bear is considered dangerous beast.Trajectories in 3006 and 375 are wery similar.
More important than bullet,is the placement of hit,a good bullet does not help if placement is bad.
Powerfull cal with high quality bullet is needed and wise to use when y hunt dangerous game.
I have taken down lots of mooses here,I have seen a moose running 300 meters his heart shooten to pieces, usually it runs 40-60 meters after a exellent lung hit.Y can drop it on spot only by hitting the backspine.
Anyway,if y know that y made a good hit,just wait and see,it will slow down,stop,fall,faint,shock,dye.
The worst hits are stomach hits, animal can live two days after if y dont succeed to trak it down.

Good shooting
