I have links to Sothebys and Christies. Are there any others? I think there is one called Holts but I can't track down a link for them. Can anybody help?

Daren't search for it as I'd end up looking at the catalogue. I removed all trace of Holts after finding out how tempting their catalogue is.

I've been to two Holte's previews, and some of the toys for sale are truly awesome.

To date my joint Favourites are a 460 double rifle that came in at just over 10lbs. It was open sights with a stunning bit of wood, estimated at �45k . It had a matching bird gun which was a seperate lot, which I thought was a real shame. Can't remember the maker, but will find out and post later.

The top of the list was a 20 bore Damascus barelled hammer gun by Holland & Holland . That had a ticket for �12k on it but made more than double that. It is the most beautiful shotgun I have ever held.

I love going cos there is nowhere else I could go and handle such great guns without having to pretend I can buy them!!

Hey Fallow Buck. I went to a Sotheby's preview earlier this year at Olympia. Just wonderful. I put a lowish bid on one lot and didn't get it. But now I've found that I'm on Sotheby's mailing list and they sent me the catalogue for the next auction for free! (normally �10 or so). Just the catalogues themselves are great to keep for the pictures.

I found Bonham's but still can't find a web site for Holtes. Anyone know how to contact them?

BTW the 460 Rigby Double rifle was a Duncan McKay Brown.... Yummy!!
