I haven't read much about the Sauer 303 semi-auto.

Is it reliable? Can you remove the bolt and gas system to clean it?

A seach of AR indicates a lukewarm opinion, but no details. If anyone will know about this thing, I'm confident this board's members will. OTOH, you probably won't know whether it's imported into the US...

(Sorry for the cross-post to Medium Rifles.)

let me translate some posts from the norwegian forum:

"sauer has problems with reloading in .30-06, so to this date they don't have a single '06 who is up to it.
and they haven't startet with the 9.3, be patient, i doubt we'll see them before sep 08"

"and it's not "only the '06", the same goes for .300 winmag"

"i called landro(the norwegian importer) to order a 303 in 9.3, but i was told not to have too high expectations of take a 303 on hunting in 2008"

"i have shooted some with the 303, and have experienced the following problems:
my buddy shot a moose calf, he used 2 shot, when he walked over to the kill and was about to empty his gun, the case was still in the chamber.
i was to shoot 20 shots with a new scope, of those 20 i got 4 malfunctions"

as i said above, this is just translated posts, and have nothing to do with my opinions.
i haven't even holded or seen a 303.

Thank you, Steffen-9.3. I had no idea it was still in "pre-production" - it appeared to be something current that I might "need."
