Going to be there for a few days. Any local gunshops, sporting stores, good newstands.

I want to pick up the recent copies of British gun magazines, have a few pints and a decent meal.

Thanks for the help!

All I know of in Mildenhall is Silvers - the manufacturers of recoil pads.

Grab a map and compare the major towns with the Gundealer directory on this site:

Have a good one bud.

I grew up in nearby, not far from Mildenhall actually, and my parents still live in Suffolk.
I'm afraid you'll be sorely disappointed by UK gun shops, on the whole.
Not many people shoot, semi auto rifles and pistols went long ago, and hunting with dogs is now illegal...
Most shooting magazines tend to focus on shotgun shooting - easiest form of licence to get - and clay shooting is more socially acceptable. However these mags will give you a good flavour of UK shooting.
There is also "What Gun" magazine which is on newspaper rather than glossy paper, and that has gun reviews, adverts for gun shops, militaria and all sorts.
A larger "WH Smith" eg Ipswich town centre will probably have the best selection.
If you get yourself into London - 1 hr 30 min by train - you could go to the Berreta shop at the Ritz Hotel end of Jermyn St - African safari books, flash guns - or Holland and Holland. (Can't remeber where they are. Dress well and use your US accent, and they will be OK. I aways felt a bit scruffy going in.... Big Grin
Beer. Adnams - brewed in Southwold in Suffolk is my favourite. (A significant First in my life Wink happened in a girls boarding school there, having both enjoyed some of their fine brew. Big Grin)
Actually "Broadside" (by Adnams) is a good pint, and if you made your way to Brandeston, the Queen's Head is nice, and should have a nice fire going, as well as a good selection of proper beer! Enjoy!

By the time you struggle through public transport or renting a car you would have spent a fortune, wasted a lot of time by going the wrong way and not getting a bang for your dollar.

I was in the same position when I visited the states during a flying visit and trying the achieve the same during a short competition stay.

I would pay somebody to chaperone you for a few days. This person will be your driver and well verse in the shooting industry. (I have a few name for you if you PM ) and you decide for yourself

I dont know your schdule but here are some possibilities:

You can book and pay somebody professional for 02 - 3 days or a weekend. This person will drive and you can

arrange a deer stalk nearby in the Kings forest Thetford -

Large woodland trophy red stag stalking in Norfork

Try and co-incide with a large game fair.

There will be at least 03 in the coming year that I know of and plan to be attending.

The forth coming inaugural
British shooting show "goggle that as well"

If you have time IWA in Nuremburg........Germany pre book easyjet, Ryan air

I think we know each other from Blaser forum if you are the same D99 hence you can email me and if my shooting calender crosses I will be please to try and organise something.......

I will definitely pay a visit to Bisley and let this person drive you there. Also get permission and make sure the museum is open......... you will not be able to shoot with the new regulation in force but at least see the butts and have lunch in one of the lodges on a sunday.

London gun makers - no point visiting unless you know somebody there. I have a name in each shop for your introduction if you need so PM me..........

I recall you like hunting big game

I would contact Abigail of SCI London chapter and see if there is lecture or dinner and join. again if it conincde with one of the above I will be delighted for you to join us..........

over to you D99

Looks like I will be in on the afternoon and out the next morning. So a pint and some new gun mags will probably be the extent of it.
