On the first day we stalked 3 beautiful animals and I got my bull -

Two of my hunting partners got their bulls at the same time and the rest of the day we spent getting the animals down the mountain and that took a long time. The day after we went up the same trail and spent most of the day glassing the hills and slopes and ended 35 km inland at an altitude of more then 800meters, then one of the jeeps had a accident so we had to go back and try to get some spare parts. The day after three of us went back to fix the jeep and one went with the guide to look for the last animal

 -

They found the animal so high that they had to cut it down and carry it over 10 km,

Congratulations!
That was a very nice bull.
It looks like a difficult terrain to hunt.

I am not sure how many they are, this year we where allowed to shoot 800 reindeers and the season ended yesterday on the 15 of sept. Not all of the them where shoot. Some of the licenses on the difficult zones did not sell out.
You are right, its a Sako 75 DL in 300WM and the load was 180gr Orix on top of 76 gr Vihtavuori 165. The range was ca 240 meters according to the Leica rangefinder.

Solvi:

Nice animals and a great hunt!

Are reindeer native to Iceland or are they imported? Just curious.

They where a gift from Norway to the Icelandic people, early last century. They used to live all over the country, but now just on the east cost.

Solvi,

Congratulations on your hunt and your trophies!
It looks a very interesting place to hunt and those look like a couple of serious 4x4's...what are they? an Isuzu and a Toyota? That one hehind looks as if it has been lifted quite a bit?

Regards,

Pete
