Hi ,
I´m going back to Baldock to shoot with Paul in late October and I am going to get a new Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless in 308, so I can get permission to shoot the TWD that I could not get permission to do last autumn with my 300WM.
I am going to put on it a moderator and I need your advice,

Hi Solvi!

Why don't you just down load your 300wm to 308win velocities for the trip?

There is no reason why that should not be acceptable for CWD...

Regards,

Pete

Solvi,

I have to say that seems a touch illogical; I think I would be looking for some where else to stalk! Big Grin

Regards,

Pete

When you write moderator, does that mean siliencer or supperssor ?

Yes, there use is getting fairly common on stalking rifles over here. Besides the noise reduction, they also reduce the felt recoil quite a bit too..

Pete I think it is an issue with hertfordshitre Police regarding the 300WM.

Solvi. Did they clear the 308 for thr CWD? from what i remember the landowner wanted something smaller than 243win. I may be mistaken though.

The thickos wouldn't give a mate of mine permission for a 7.62 but were happy when he changed that to .308.
He ended up with a heavy barrel T3 ... thumb

This one is great, but not cheap ...

I have used both Br Reflex and A-Tec suppressors on my rife's and cannot praise them enough.

The only main problem I had was POI difference and mirage problems on the range, but then again, you only need 1 shot when stalking.

LOL, That was a typo but apt none the less!!

Solvi,

If I remember correctly Gerry was using a 243win in Baldock, although there is a possibility that he used Neils 220 Swift for the CWD.

The problem with the 222 is that it is not legal on fallow.

As for the Mods, I have looked at a ew for my 260 and settled on a 32mm PES

Kiri,

Outstanding - I can't remember what I ate for breakfast and it's only 09:30! In the aged memory is the second thing that starts to slip........

Confused

Brought the .243 Winchester but used Niel's .222 Swift w/moderator on the CDW.

Cheers,
