It will be the first day of the season for me on the 9th October. Im looking forward to getting the 20 bore out of the safe once again. Im off to shoot some clays on the 3rd October, just a little bit of last minute practice!! I bought 1000 cartridges at the Midland Game Fair on Saturday so im ready to go. I have changed cartridges for this season from Express 28grm 6shot to Eley Hawk 30grm 5shot. I am doing a few days in Wales this year so wanted something a little heavier. I will post some pictures on the 11th. Hey Mike, The 9th Oct is our first day out too. I'll be shooting the 16bore again and have a heap f shells left out so far. We've had a couple of dog days on the partridges so far and I'm out on Wednesday, then out to Ampton on Friday for a morning of Driven Ducks and some Muntjac in the evening. I like this time of year as there is so much to look forward to!! By the way are your 20 Bore 30g 5's the Express somerset cartridge? If so they are an absolutely fab cartridge on those high birds. Fallow Buck One of the guns on our shoot uses a 16 bore side by side and i have used it a couple of times. I am tempted to buy one, not right now but maybe for next season. I love this time of year too, i dont do any shooting between Feb and the end of Sept so when October comes around i am raring to go. Next year will be different though as i am off to Zimbabwe for a Plainsgame hunt on the Save. My 20 Bore 30g 5's are Eley VIP's. Hope you have a good time on Wednesday. Mike, Yesterday was a great day. We walked up the birds in a kale and stubble turnip cover crop. six guns shot 53 partridges and the hammer guns showed they can still do the job!! The added bonus of it being a dog training day was that we got to see some great , (and not so great....) dog work as they warmed up for the field trial season. It's nice to know that open dogs run in too and it isn't just my spaniel with the tendancy!! Photo's tomorrow along with some pics from the duck shoot. Rgds, Kiri | |||
