Does anyone have any contacts in England ( not Scotland) for driven Hare shooting? Ideally 15-20 guns with a team of beaters.

This is for a very safe, experienced team of continential hunters.

Thank you.

Continental hunters, driven hares and very safe are not phrases you generally see together in a sentence! Big Grin

Luckily it sounds like I deal with more sensible and safe hunters from abroad then!

Simon ( SWS) thanks for your suggestion and I've sent Ampton an email.

Come on boys

This is a European forum and we are in 2012

Is it appropriate to use phrases as "foreigners"

We should be grateful that our neighbours have allowed us to hunt there without going through their rigorous certification procedures.

Without them and 2 particular gentleman namely Powerscourt and Tavistock there is virtually nothing to hunt on these shores

Hello Adam

How are you keeping

My stutzen project is coming along must call you to catch up

Hare shooting in New Zealand can be fun. In the mountain river flats with tussock grass you can see literally a hundred hares in a couple of hours walk while looking for deer just before dark.

We always talk about what fun it would be to just shoot hares with a shotgun / 22 combo but never bother to organise the trip!

I never used the term 'foreigner' - I reserve that for British not from the West Country.

I agree we can be terribly snobbish which I hate but driven hare hunting tends to bring out the worst in people.

I'm at Ampton tomorrow, but their are shooting is generally all sold to one team that have been going there for years. I was thinking of the hare shooting at the sister estate about half an hour away but it is very heavy ground so the guns need to be quite fit!!

I drove past Ampton this afternoon and there are a lovely lot of Hares around.
I remember going on a GWCT grey partridge tour of Sandringham a couple of years ago and their hare numbers were staggering.
Do Quidenham have hare days?
What is the sister estate to Ampton?

SWS,

We were out shooting when you went past!! You could have dropped in the the BBQ afterwards.

Peter Runs Box Tree Farm as well which is his home farm. We are shooting with them at each estate for the next 2 weeks so if you are in the area swing by and say hello. I can PM you my mobile.

for the Hare shooting we will probably do a day at Box Tree as part of the AR weekend in Feb. That way we can go shoot Hares on the Thursday or Sunday and shoot Muntjac either side.

I suppose it is time to get that all set up!!
