I am going to South Africa in August for a Safari, so need travel insurance that includes hunting/shooting, who do other people use, most UK polices exclude these activities.

If your a member of an organisation such as BASC the insurance policy that comes with the membership should cover you.

BASC is a good third party insurance and covers you for up to 60 days abroad. I am looking for a travel insurance that will provide medical cover etc.

I went out last year taking a Beretta 12g and a semi custome 308.
I took out insurance through Bluefin (an AXA policy).
Bluefin
Fountain House
130 Fenchurch Street
London EC3M 5DJ

I was pleased that I did because after a couple of solid days dove shooting, the stock on the Beretta started to come apart.
On return, I was able to claim on the policy and Smallbore's gang of repairers did an excellent job on a new stock.

Needless to say, I renewed the policy with Bluefin this year and am taking the repaired gun back to Africa for a bit of a field test....

Looking forward to another restocking job then!

Go on take that nice pair of Gibbs boxlocks I got you. Honestly, I thought I'd educated you and Fallow Buck with Gibbs and Holland & Hollands and what are you both taking to Africa? Berettas and Brownings!!

I only have that elephant painter with the alpha female girlfriend to help us not look like a bunch of bank robbers.

This http://www.shakariconnection.c...ravel-insurance.html might help chaps.

Regarding UK based insurance for anything to do with hunting...... you might like to sift through the fine print before you part with your money because a lot of what's on offer has so many exceptions they're next to bloody useless!

Well Bluefin were very helpful, but after checking with several brokers they are unable to arrange travel insurance for hunting plains game.

If I took the Gibbs and broke them you'd either weep or choke on your cigar & anyway, getting 16b cartridges is likely to be a problem.

As for restocking the Beretta again, I'm not expecting to claim under your lifetime repair warranty. Smiler

Wait until the elephant painter gets charged excess baggage for that moustache he's sporting. Frankly, I think he's using the upturned tip as a rear sight.

Smallbore, While we are on the subject of Alpha girlfriends....

Sorry going off topic.

Lincs,, What sort of coverage are you looking for? The activities themselves unless listed in the dangerous section and specifically prohibited should not stop you from claiming for injury, (touch wood!!) and the equipment is covered under the policy Dave mentioned.

When I was deep diving in the past I found a particular policy by Insure & Go was the only one that covered me for injury or hyperbaric treatment requirements after diving at depth. They may be worth a call depending on the specifics you want covered.

K

All sorted now, the NFU were pragmatic, helpful and very reasonably priced.

Lincs Stalker,

From my side I'll do everything in my power to ensure that the money paid for your insurance was a complete waste of money! Wink

OTOH, now that I know you are insured, I may want to attempt a few tricks that I've often wondered about. Things like driving at breakneck speed over aardvark infested grassveld without lights at night while chasing springhare come to mind..... Wink

But on a serious note, I think that very few hunters ever needs any insurance - but it is one of those things that you only need when you don't have any! How it works I don't know, but that is my experience with insurance. Frowner

Looking forward to welcoming you and Martin here.
