Hi lad’s im knew to this website I was out this morning first light with my dad he promised to get me a buck on the first day of the season.

I have helped him out with the doe culling all winter and in return he promised me a good buck were lucky were we live we get a lot of very impressive bucks on our ground we pulled into the estate just as light was breaking kitted up and ready to go I used my dads 30-06 blaser that I used all the winter on the does so I was confident with this rifle we entered a large grass field where we could see seven bucks and four does feeding we glassed them looking for a good clean buck amongst them.

two of the bucks were really good and clean and another two were good six pointers but still covered in velvet so as we pushed up the hedge towards the group feeding my dad spotted a big old buck lead down in the hedge and prompted me to come forward and have a look when I glassed him I could see he was a stunning buck not so tall but very thick and with huge coronets.

And he said this one is a good one for you smiling at me he put the sticks up and I rested the blaser in the v my dad ranged the buck at 80 meters and asked me if I could plug him through the neck as he was lead down with his chest covered.
Looking through the scope he looked huge but I felt calm and confident I lowered the cross hairs to the thickest part of his neck above his shoulders and held steady.

squeezing the trigger the rifle cracked and I heard the bullet strike he rolled over stone dead in front of us there was an explosion of roe running in all directions we seen 7 but there was many more in the group we had not seen we walked over to inspect my buck my heart was pumping I could not believe it my first roe buck and of top of that my dad has told me it will make a gold medal and that I owe him all my pocket money for the next five years a great first buck and a great start to the season .

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.

Prostalk, great Roebuck and good first post.

A Blazer and a Bavarian Bloodhound show a certain amount of class on your old man's part.

Keep the posts coming.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Ok - nice to see Bavarian on the isle - keep that dog and the one that is comming close - their life just runs much faster than yours - a tracking dog guide's salute as they say in Fatherland: Ho’ Rüd’ Ho’!

Good job Prostalk,

those pics sure does envoke a lot of desire to go hunting,

it´s a good thing there is an open season for crows and the fact that the comp season is in full fling.

Best regards Chris

Well done!

If I may suggest you take a lot of photos of you and it and write it up in a game diary!

Your first roe buck is a really special thing. I still remember mine.

Hi lads thanks for your kind words i was out helping my dad again this morning this time watching as he was guiding a danish client onto a trophy roebuck.

we arrived on a farm in wiltshire at 6am and started to stalk a large hillside sorrounded by timber about 30 mins into the stalk we glassed a good buck with 4 does and stalked into about 180 yards from him without being seen my dad settled the client down onto the blaser using the bipod as a rest and we all managed to get a good look at the buck feeding with the does my dad told him it was a good buck and could be a trophy and with a slightly unusual head the client made a good shot at 180 yards straight through the heart with the 30-06 and the buck collapsed on the spot with no movement at all i was allowed to go forward with the dog to inspect the buck flyn the bloodhound seein all the action dragged me to the bottom of the hill barking and screaming all the way grabbing the buck and giving it a good shake to make sure it was dead.

hes a really good hound but dont listen to me to well as he is my dads dog i have a bavarian puppy bitch on order that is coming from poland any day i cant wait to train her myself on inspecting the buck it looked to be a cracker and looked to be some form of medal class head so the client was very happy and another good buck and a good stalk and only the 2nd of april.

thanks liam
