The population of whitetails in Finland is 20,000+ the last report I read. Finland has a long border with Russia, so it is not improbable that some have migrated into that country.

I was reading that there are approximately 100,000 whitetail in Finland now but most of them in the very south of the country near Rasborg which would put them a long way from the Russian border. The Finnish whitetail population were a gift from Finnish emmigrants back to the home country them also brought Canadian beavers so now Finland have both Canadian and european populations of beaver.
