Does anyone from the uk use a mifi router or dongle when abroad to reduce overseas data charges? I can use a local sim in a spare iPhone as I think the new software can turn it into a hotspot but I may have trouble activating it without I-tunes if it is a new sim. I am hunting abroad for most of the next two months and want to be able to Skype the kids and post updates with photo reports, so any ideas would be appreciated. Rgds, Kiri

Yes, I use a ZTE MF60 with a local SIM card. Works well, even offshore in the Caspian. Connects MBA, iPad and iPhone without problem.

Hi Fallow, the hotspot on the Iphone does not work in some cases - depending on the data abilities of your sim card - my plane does not allow this and so the iphone does not support this function (unfortunally) good luck! Klaus
