Hi guys, I havn't posted anything in a while so I thought I'd give you lot a wee report! Back in November a shooting buddy and I went to see big Paul at Baldock for some Muntjac and Fallow. So we set of on a long drive from N.Ireland on Thursday and arrived at the Gap 180 hunt club on Friday morning, we met up with Ian F, Jo, DJM and Paul's band of merry men! We also met 2 fellow Ulster men (who happened to live about 5 miles from me! ) On the Friday evening I was put in a highseat on the edge of a wood where a large Munty buck had been seen, so after a few hours of watching dog walkers, ramblers, and kids on quad bikes, the light had gone and was time to get down from the seat, just as I was about to unload my rifle I seen something moving to me left. I looked through my scope and there he was, a big Muntjac buck and 2 does with him, he was stamping his front leg and started barking at me, at this point I sent a 120gr soft point from my 6.5x55 Sako in his direction. he folded on the spot and the 2 does took off like a greyhound. I got down and went to pick him up, to say I was happy when I seen him was an understatment!!! [/IMG] So back at the yard DJM caped my Buck for me ( my taxidermist commented on how good a job he had done) so felling quite chuffed with myself we all had dinner and a few ciders to finish the night off. 5am came early on Sat morning and we were back in the seats again. the weather was not on are side, and due to heavy fog paul called off the shooting for safety reasons at 7.30 am, although my mate Mark had managed to get 2 fallow. Saturday evening was much of the same and we came back to the yard with nothing for the chiller, but hey thats hunting! on Sunday morning I was in the "pond seat" in a large stubble feild, just after 6.30am 3 fallow does appered 120m to my left. the where very jumpy and not for hanging about, I shouted at them but only 1 stopped and once again the good old 6.5 sweed did the job! so back at the yard we had breakfast, sorted out who had shot what, got some venison and headed for the boat. I only got my Munty back last week from the taxidermist, but I think it was worth the wait! [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Aaron

Nice one Aaron. Where have you been hiding? The photos of the mount are not working. Did Davie do the work? Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thanks Chris for sorting out the photos! Brian, no I didn't take it to Davy as I don't trust the wee c**t as far as I could throw him! took it to Mrs Penny in Banbridge, her work is 1st class and she isn't hard to pay. Havn't got much shooting this year due to work and other commitments, I got some new ground near Kesh with reds, sika and goats on it but its a 240 mile round trip and as with every other bit of ground in this wee country people with lamps and .22 centre fire rifles are shooting more deer than us lot who try to do the thing right! Any craic with yourself?

Aaron, Waidamannsheil! Nice Teeth on that Muntie! Personally, I think you put a dab of lipstick on his shoulder just so you could attempt to show us where you whacked him! Cheers, Number 10
