I am going to COPENHAGEN next month from the 11 of January until the 14, for a meeting that will only take half a day, so I am going to spend some time with my wife and some friends for the rest of the time.
Only thing planed is a dinner at REEF N' BEEF. So any suggestion from members in Denmark.

Solvi, I don't live in Copenhagen any more, but since nobody else has replied, I'll start the ball rolling. I don't know what type of "entertainment" you are looking for, nor do I know exactly where in Copenhagen you'll be located. So for now, I have just guessed you might be seeking something about guns and hunting in the center of the city.

There used to be a semi-decent gun shop in the center of Copenhagen. The address still seems to be valid, so maybe the shop is still there?

This is right off the central pedestrian and shopping street in Cph. They used to have a fairly decent selection.

There are other gun shops in Copenhagen, but you'll have to travel by bus from the center of the city to get to them.

Not from Denmark but Roskilde (splg?) has a nice hunting and natural history museum. Klampenberg to the North has lots of semi-tame deer to walk among. Neither is in the city but they are not that far away for a day trip to the country.

Wow, we have to have an Aussie point out the very best venue in and around Copenhagen to us!!! "Dyrehaven" (English: Deer-park) has a bunch of reds, fallow and sika to walk amongst. I believe it used to be a royal hunting reserve, but now it is a public park, with the deer highly visible. In January, you'll find the big red herds around the feeding stations, and the stags will still have their antlers (they don't loose them until March/April). Chances are you'll see monsters of both red and fallow stag. At one stage, the world record fallow came from this population, shot by the Danish Prince, royalty still has its advantages... Some of the red stags have to be seen to be believed. Behind the castle (Eremitagen) pretty much in the middle of the park, there are usually a bunch of bachelor red stags hanging out. Some times there are some impressive heads even amongst these deer, and in any event, seeing this many stags in one location is quite something. Make sure you bring a pair of binocs!! North of Eremitagen you get into scrubland, and I have never seen many deer up there. But from the south entrance to Eremitagen is excellent for deer viewing.

As MitroX mentioned, you simply take the S-Bahn (train) to Klampenborg. That will leave you right outside the south-eastern gate to Dyrehaven. Easy-peasy. Max 1/2 hour train ride from the Central Station. MIddle of the day is fine.

I will be staying at Le Meridien Palace Hotel; whit’s is at the Rådhuspladsen, so all the local attractions will be at walking distance.
Mostly I was hoping to find some gun stores and hunting museums or something in that category.
And John, Take a look at the menu at the restaurant:

Ha ha. I didn't know the "Reef n Beef" was an "Aussie" restaurant!

Though the name is familiar in Aust of course.

I wonder if the Prince and Princess dine there sometimes. Smiler

The Quandong Roo looks good.

I wouldn't touch the "Vegemite Steak" Razzer

The Hunted Hunter crocodile might be nice too.

Barramundi is a very nice fish, but tastier caught wild rather than farmed.

But no platypus, koala, or wombat on the menu! (all protected of course Smiler ). (A joke: Ask the waiter what a platypus tastes like. When he says it is endangered or protected, answer, I've been told its like a cross between a koala and a dolphin.)

Checked out the red wine menu. The Katnook Cabernet looks good, but not sure of the exchange rate as to the price!

When I visited Copenhagen in 1988 or 1989 we were poor travellors and couldn't afford real restaurants. We ate with the ethnics in the train station restaurant, and occaisionally at a cheaper Italian restaurant.

By mis-chance (language mistake) stayed at the Sofolknes Mindehotel (splg?) (the local Seamen's Union hotel). But it was cheap at least! The overheard breakfast conversation was interesting in how much the sailor's girls cost them the night before.

Visited Klampenberg out of interest and later included it in an article in an Australian Hunting Yearbook titled, "Game Parks of Europe". Photographed some magnificent red stags but unfortunately still in late stages of velvet. Good fallow too. Some roebuck, but no sika. I liked the old Royal hunting 'lodge' too especially the 'stag antler' balconeys.

Sited a Soviet battlecruiser out to sea too in the straights between Sweden and Denmark.

I liked the Roskilde museum as well for its full mounted taxidermy displays and natural history exhibits.

If You want to see a museum with guns go to
"Tojhusmuseet"

http://www.thm.dk/

Its got a pretty good collection of guns(about 7 thousand).
Unfortunately not that much info bout the individual guns so you have to know what you are looking at.
Free entry on wednesday, closed monday and open from 12 to 4 PM all other days.
If you follow the link to the homepage theres a Union jack in the bottom right corner, press it for a english page.

Its only about a kilometer from your hotel

So many guns in the world, but not enough in my safe
