has anyone had any experience with this brand powder.
I intend to try it in 30-06 , with 168 grain Barnes TS .

I understand a lot of their powders are double bases ball. I prefer VV powders, but have been told of a good apply of this brand is available at competitive prices.

Need to know if it's worth the effort.

I was interested in it but I have to say there were 2 things that put me off.

First the original Eastern European labelling was half ripped off and partialy covered with home made UK labels

Second the powder kernels were of 2 different colours which made me concerned that there might be 2 varying burn rates which could seperate out.

This was in the days of Westlander being the distributor. Things may have changed now.

I've tried a few powders in the 06 with 150s (RL19, H4350, VVN550) but the streets ahead winner for accuracy was VVN150. Not the fastest but you should get in the region of 2,900fps. The Hornady Interbond makes a good fallow bullet and the partition a good red bullet (allthough I've yet to use it on one)

For 165gr bullets the far and away winner for me was RL22 which can launch a 165gr ballistic tip at 2,800fps

I don't like ball powders - generaly very bad muzzle flash.

I have shot Accurate Arms powders for almost 15 years, in both handguns and rifles. Their powders are top notch, as far as I can tell. Additionally, somehow or another, they seem to be able to keep their prices a couple of dollars under everyone else.

I heartily recommend AA 4350, if you can find it. It is extruded, but it shoots extremely well in both my '06 and 7MM RM... (My .270 prefers AA 3100, fwiw.)

I use reloader 15 in my 308, I find it almost the same as Vit N140. I got great loads with 45gr of reloader 15 and 165gr SST (in the 308)

PG,

The Rifle Store was selling this stuff fairly cheap at one of the gamefairs...

They also do small "tester" samples for about £1 each so you can load a few rounds to see if your rifle likes it..I have one for Acurate Powder 2460 if thats any use???

Regards,

Pete

Try AA3100 works great in my .30-06, it is bit slower powder so the velocities will be around 2600fps, but accuracy is fantastic.
The powder is made in Czech Republic, I like it.

If you can find N140 or IMR4064, Re15, Varget, those will work great with 150-168grain bullets in .30-06 giving you good velocities.

Thanks guys,

The reason I asked was that the Armoury at Bisley has a shed load of the stuff.

Millwall made an enquiry as to the availability of military ball for the 30-06 to work in the barrels. He got talking to the armourer and they started to discuss other options as well.

As we reload, a selection of powders was discussed and this was one of them . They seem to have it in all the burning rates, or so I have been lead to believe.

As well as this, they have soft point ammo. boxed up as American Eagle. When you get it out, its head stamp is Federal!

I've used it in .223 and .243, and can't say i noticed any difference between it and standard Federal. Apart from the PRICE!

Much cheaper.

Anyway , I think I will stick with the Vint. Prices have topped out in the powder market at the moment hence the reason i'm looking around.

You can get through a tub pretty quick developing a load, as you know.
