I've just gone down the Blaser route with a second hand but as new 308. Having moved from a house to a flat, I was conscious of triggering my neighbours curiosity and my long barrelled Sako, whilst superbly accurate was also heavy and bulky. I really felt the weight of it during that Bush hunt with Kiri in RSA a couple of years back. Ben's Violin case trick with a dismantled Blaser appealed and I will now also move on my current Tikka 243 and get a Blaser 243 barrel using the same optics and moderator. The ammo I loaded for the Sako doesn't group quite so well through the shorter barrel so there's a bit of load development to do for both calibres. Dave, you'll find yourself growing quite attached to the Blaser system. They're superbly accurate, easy to travel with, and quite versatile, allowing you to go from one of the 22 calibers all the way up to the African calibers on the same set-up, by changing barrels, boltheads, adding Kick-Stops, etc. Mine have been to Africa, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Alaska, and throughout the USA. | |||

Dave I actually arranged that very blaser to be transfer to David. I know the previous owner well and I can guarantee has no more than 2 boxes of 20 since new. I didn't put him in touch with you because he had a lot of BAGGAGE to unload hence David got involved. It really is mint mint mint. So I would go further to suggest you need to shoot a few boxes before it will settle down ! This was last weekend !   Got chatted up by a 60 years old widow on the train she took up the violin a few years ago ! Lucky I actually play the violin so we got engrossed in music talk for the rest of the journey Eventually  Enjoy you new tool We will meet up some time | |||

Hi Ben, Well, I won't ask how the train conversation went but the case looks sweet and about as un-threatening as could be....unless you dress like a Chicago gangster. Now that the line is opened up again, I guess that points further west are now easily accessible. Not sure how you get the animals back home though, the luggage racks are a bit small.
