Who, (from this very quiet forum at the moment), will be going to Arran this year with the BASC?

Can't wait to get the tank commander back in the driving seat!! jumping

On another note, Alan who shot the gold medal head last year on Arran is going Scone game fair to get it CIC'ed, it was provisionally scored at 186, so will just have too wait and see!

Will be a different format this year for some, last year we added together 3 beats to create one large beat (approx 5000acres) this worked well and most members enjoyed the freedom of choosing their own area to stalk!
The larger beats also have more varied stalking, and the weather which plays a very big part on Arran can easily be taken into account when deciding your approach!

The scheme has got better as we have progressed and comments and critisism have helped us along the way, although we tried and bent over backwards to help every member, (and when I say I would like every member to be successful, I mean it!) there were only two members who complained out 118 participants.
We are always looking to fine tune the scheme to benefit the members and this year will be no exception, there is a 72% rebooking from members which shows we have got something right, looking forward to seeing you all again.

regards
griff

Just a quick note,

Allan had the head measured at Scone, it scored just 2 points under the gold medal, but was the 4th best scored head in Scotland since 1907.
quite an achievment.

Here is just a reminder of last year.
This was Millwall's first stag ever !!
Richly deserved, but I won't be letting him get the first shot in this year.

This is the beast, back from the taxidermist, filling Millwall's stairwell .
Mummy will be pleased.

Can we have some feedback as to how the hind cull went last year ?

We hear little about the stags and nothing about the hinds. Can you help Griff ?

Tank commander out !!

Paul,
the total for the year was 161 animals culled. Don't know exactly what the breakdown was,i think it was between 55-65 stags and rest was hinds and calves..
