They were shoot with a ´243 cal at ca 100 meters offshore and the hunter had a fishing rod that he used to get them when they where drifting.
The smaller one was 232kg and the bigger one 325kg

Defenately bigger than any seal we got here along the Norwegian coastline

They are called Grey seal, (Halichoerus grypus ) but we Icelanders call them Deep Ocean seals.
They are not easy to get, they are very shy and stay on the shore where it is hard to get to or more often on small islands or reefs.

What do you do with those? Can you eat them?

People used to eat them, but now days they are only consumed by older people and some that live by the cost in fishing villages.
Until recently they where shoot as the government had a bounty on them and you could make some good money, but now there are no rewards, so they are not sought after by many.
But hunting them can be fun.
