I promised my grand-daughter that I'd take her to the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany if she made her local soccer club's U-12 Gold Team.

Well she's started every game on defense (Stopper or Sweeper) and so we're going to Germany -- in fact there's a good chance the whole team may go -- along with lot's of families (I'm only on the hook for Saran and maybe her older brother) and the question is --what's available that time of year let's say the week before thru the week after the Women's World Cup. Not resticted to Germany and I'd consider Roe Deer, Boar and maybe some bird shooting. There could be one other shooter but not sure.

Where's the best Roe hunting that won't break the bank and is there any driven hunting that time of the year?

There is no driven hunting that time of the year.
Depending wich "bundesland" you are what is open.
Mostly open in that period of time is roedeer, male wildboar, wildboar without young ones.
Where i hunt (Brandenburg), this summer in june reddeer spike was open, also reddeer females from last year without young ones.
In july the rest of the male reddeers opened.
Also open is "young" varmint like fox, raccoon, raccoondog.
Every bundesland has a forrest department, where you can hunt for some days, if you hunt the bigger reddeer it can be expensive!!!

Cheers

Late june to early July can be very quiet roe hunting as bucks get ready for the rut (this is UK but I would think Germany is similar). Mid July should allow some hunting of roe bucks in the rut which if allowed in Germany is very exciting indeed.

As 1894 wrote, late June to Mid July can be a pretty quiet period when it comes to roe - or for that matter pretty much any - hunting... It can be pretty hot at that time of the year, and that puts a damper on activity. The grass may also be pretty long, making the bucks hard to see. Only in late July will you see activity pick up as the rut starts and runs into early August.

There is no driven hunting at that time of the year in Continental Europe. Pigs can be hunted year round, but because of the heat and readily available food sources, they will not be easy to locate in summer. It *can* happen, but it is hard to base a hunt around.

So hunting is available, definitely, but it is not the best time of the year. But what the heck, an unsuccessful hunting day still beats a day in the office... Wink

I'll talk with a friend from Germany, maybe he could help you with some information for an inexpensive roe deer hunt in Germany in that period or, if you had time, you can come in Romania and all you have to pay is the roe trophy fee to the Romanian state.

I'm not limited to just Germany -- there will be quite a few of us in the party and I can jump out and go almost anywhere for a shortk week or less, hunt.

Some of the roe hunts I've seen advertised in England look nice but don't know when they happen. Like anyone I'd like to shoot a nice buck or two but certainy don't need gold to be happy.
