This one?? Looks like a dot to me. (Click on the reticles on this page for a (somewhat) larger picture Swaro's Reticle Page) - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... It entices its bearer into primeval forests, into mountains and deserts untenanted by man. - Horace Kephart

Alex were you referring to this statement of mine, and could you not make that work??
If this is the problem, click on the following link: Swaro's Reticle Page On the page that takes you to, you can click on the small reticle pictures, and they will expand in a pop-up window to the size I posted above. In fact, the picture I posted above was simply the pop-up for the illuminated TDS-4. Sorry, if my explanation above was inadequate. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... mike, i did mean the reticle picture on the swaro website, i cannot get the pop up window. your picture and help are more than adequate thanks, a great help. i am trying to figure if the small dot in the middle when on full mag will be a help or hinderance on shooting small stuff at further ranges. alex

Alex, sometimes browsers (Internet Explorer or whatever you use) are configured to block pop-ups - to avoid all the irritating commercial adds often presented in this way. Just a thought... I stayed away from "dot" reticles for a long time. I figured a thin crosshair would allow a more precise definition of my aiming point - after all thinner crosshairs were easier to aim precisely than reticles with a larger subtension. This was in the context of shooting itsy-bitsy groups from the bench, but I guess the issue is the same when shooting at small (live) atrgets at long range. Since then I have acquired two reticles with target dots - one a Zeiss with an illuminated dot much like the one in the Swaro reticle. I have actually been surprised how well the dot seems to work. In particular, the expected effect of making the aiming point less precisely defined has not materialized. In fact, it sometimes seems easier to precisely position a dot than thin cross hairs - although I'm not quite sure why?? All this not to talk you into this particular reticle. What works for me may not work for you. But it does sound like we had the same misgivings, and in my case the effect actually turned out less severe than I had feared. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Mr Yates, Just go with the fine cross hairs, and stop fiddling with all those knobs and buttons!!! Lets have another shoot off soon!!!

With that reticle you will not be using the dot at long rnge. You will be using one of the lower stadia lines, that is the purpose for them. However when shooting up close in low light, or when shooting quickly the red dot will be very nice. I will never buy another hunting scope without an illuminated reticle.
