| It's true. The General Licence to control pest species of birds including all corvids, feral pigeon and woodpigeon has been revoked following the actions of a small group of people with no vested interest headed up by tv celebrity Chris Packham. He's been a bit quiet these last couple of days. No wonder he's a wanted man by every farmer, 'keeper, pest controller and genuine conservationist in the land. |

| Its a response to a legal challenge by Mr Packham and his cronies. The law was not well drafted. He has found a loophole and Natural Englsnd have stopped the General Licence. A condition of the general licence is that before you shoot a pest you need to have considered alternatives to shooting / trapping and that you have determined that shooting is the best and only way of solving the problem. The legal challenge has demonstrated that Natural England, as the licencing body are not confirming that licencees are abiding by the licence. So As from Monday if you need to shoot pest species you need to apply online for a licence and confirm that have given due consideration etc rtc etc. And the BBCs only interest is that somebody hung a dead crow on Mr Packhsms gate. No such thing i am afraid! All you now need to do to shoot pigeons as crows is to print off the form from Natural England Website, complete it and post it. You are licensed as soon as the form goes into the post. |

| Looks like the work around has opened up all of England to a wild west sh** show? Drop an application in the mail and you are good to go. So much for "robust review" to quote NE, eh?! |

| With all the shenanigans in parliament everything is just falling through the cracks. There is no political direction etc. The minister for environment under whose portfolio this sits is one of those jockying to take over leadership of the government. |

| Does not apply in Scotland BTW.
SNH has already issued a statement saying it will NOT at any time be suspending the General License. |
