At the range I saw a new type of rifle the old swiss military rifle K31 straightpull in 7,5x55 swiss.
The rifle was in a perfect condition with a new stock and a scope.
Would like to have more informations about the K31 and the 7,5x55.

You are probably referring to the ZFK55 sniper rifle.

Made in much smaller quantities than the K31 it has acquired collector's status and is nowadays negociated for quite an amount of money.

I have a wonderful un-issued K-31 at my Father's house in America.

We have shot it a bit, and the rifle is perfect. Especially with Hornady 7.5x55 180 grain load.

I am going to buy another one if I can find another one in good condition.

I want to build a custom one like Colani did.

At one time I had 9, K31's and an 1891 Schmidt Rubin. Down to 3, K31's and the 1891. Great rifles.

Fantastic, looks like a new rifle project for me.
What can you tell me about the 7,5x55 round?

Compared to the 308 or 300 WinMag.

The 7.5x55 sits between the 30-06 and the 308 in power.

My personal rifle is very accurate, I have heard that most are very accurate.

I got lucky and bought one that had not been issued for $220. So a new rifle for $220 is a good deal.

I had 2 K31's and kept one, a "P" marked (privatized) walnut stocked one, made in 1938 by SIG.

With a 6x scope its shoots 5 in <.75 MOA with handloads consisting of 168 Sierra MK / N 140 / 45.0.

As a matter of fact, I've tried the 175 SMK too. With N 140 powder, both bullets shoot as accurately so it's a tossup.

Very impressive informations.
An interssing project, affordable prices and swiss quality. Contacted my gunsmith, he doesn't see any problems to find the right gun.

Thank you for your help in finding my new toy.

Andre,

Nice rifle. I want one in walnut. Mine is birch. I'll see if Dad will take some photos of it and email them to me. As the rifle is in America and I am in Australia.

I had a second K31, a beech stocked one made in 1955.

Both rifles were identically accurate but, growing short on space in my gun room, I parted with it last year and kept the one with the nicer wood.

Both 150 and 180 grain bullets shoot well in mine. I almost wish I had not sold any of the 9 I had.

Yes mine is the twin of that one.

It is unissued, no marks on the stock, and the not a single scratch in the blue finish.
