I just found out how to move photo's from my phone to my PC, so I thought I'd post these. Sorry for the por quality but they are taken from my mobile.

Last nights excursion ended up with (and I quote...) "something suitably big and hairy"

He was quartering me a bit more than I thought. 308, went inon 7th rib and out on 2nd. He made it 250yds before he realised what was happening.

This is a pricket I got just before Xmas. The before picture...

And now the after picture: Wink

This was a hen pheasant I shot on a quiet walk round a mates farm before we went out on the Stags. Not seen anything quite like it before.

THis was the scene in my living room when the African stuff arrived. Fern was very put out by the intrusion of all the critters!!

Thanks for looking,
FB

Hi Arild,

I'm expecting to be out with you on the Saturday if all goes well. I may even be out on the Friday evening if I get back into the UK from a business trip in time to pick up the rifle and the Ferndog.

I'm a little confused as to what makes up a Norwegian breakfast.... As far as I saw last year, it was Aquuavit washed down with more Aquavit.... with the obligatory coffee in between!! cheers Unfortunately I will miss that but hope to bring my own home made version for you to try.

Rgds,

Nice entry FB,

You will now have to add words and pictures to all those RSA skins of yours.

Give us a full run down.

Our trip away is looming fast, so anything to wet the apatite is most appreciated

All the best

PG,

The one at the front is a Blue wildebeast. Tey make a great rug. I'm not a massive fan of them shoulder mounted so a European and a rug is the way forwad IMHO.

All the brown ones are some of the Pigggie skins that I had tanned for leather. I have 6 skins and I'm looking for a battered up old wing backed chair to get reupholstered with them. don';t know if I'll have enough but we'll see.

On the back of the chair is an Impala rug.

They are qquite nice but I prefer them without the backing as felt picks up all the dust etc on the floor and quickly looks tatty. To be honest if I went out again, I'd do some impala skins as very soft leather in their natural colopur, (a creamy white), and use that for ccushions etc. The leather from these is increadibly soft, like good chamois leather.

I'll get round to putting the mounts on the wall at some point tthen hopefully I'll post some pictures.

FB,
Did your pheasants have beak bits in when they were released? We had a batch a couple of years ago with "biodegradable" bits. It turned out they were"nt biodegradable at all, and the birds that did"nt starve had badly formed beaks like the one shown. We take them all out now before thet even get in the pen!
good shooting

BT,

Our pheasants are not bitted, although these were on a freinds bit of ground that he doesn't release on so I wouldn't know about it.

Over all the bird was in fine shape and didn't seem to be having any trouble eating.

Simon, That's a Sauer 202 in AG Gold model. It is generally what I take out given the choice on most things. I had a bit of an issue with it last night that I might post on another thread. Basically the safety engaged while I was cycling the bolt which resulted in the rifle not reloading. I could have had a second buck otherwise.

Ho Hum...

Hi FB

Nice pics. I had heard a rumour that Home Counties bucks like to wear thick lip-stick. I suppose the pics confirm this now. beer

Thats a very American thing to do. I thought they reserved that for whitetail only.

Thanks for the pics FB. I'm curious, did you make the sausages yourself? And if so, do you have a good recipe? Smiler

Mark,

I'm currently in discussion with the record book people to get the local subspecies recognised. The East Sussex Transvestite Fallow Population is very localised and their presence is governed by their annual migrations, (of which Pete E is an expert) Luckily for us the cheif researcher into their annual migration drinks in the local pub, is blonde size 8 and happy to share her knowledge on the subject. Sadly I never got her name...

Erik,

Yes I do make my own Sausages, burgers, salami and hams. Recipes are a closely guarded secret passed down through generations of sausagemakers in my family, well... one generation that is....(if I count as a generation on my own?)

OK... I made it up and can't remember what exactly went in!!! I'm on a sausage mission in a couple of weeks so I shall take notes & keep you posted. Wink

Fallow buck, I had a Sauer 202 Europa Lux E, which I think is the old equivalent of what you now have. I never had any problems with the safety. Maybe you should get that checked out.

FB...loking forward to meet you.
And that breakfast thing...well we see what we are able to bring over.
Aquavit in the morning is a bit rough for my taste, but a small shot to keep the colds away never hurts Wink

FB,
I understand that the migration route for the trannie fallow is from Essex to Sussex via that pub.

I have it on very good authority that you can bait , or lure-in this type of fallow, not with the usual pile of apples, but with a stack of handbags! rotflmo

I am told they find it irresistible not to gather around them in groups, and dance.

I'm sure Pete E has plenty of handbags he could lend you. animal

( Edited by Pete E to add: "Puntgunner should be careful who he takes the piss out of, or I will edit his posts and turn him into an left-wing animal-rights wacko, complete with a boyfriend called Bernard!" Wink )

Oh dear,

Big Brother is watching!!!

Arild,

I'm looking forward to it also. Though I didn't get a chance to re-zero my rifle at the weekend so the Old Faithful will have to stay at home Frowner Looks like the 243 will get an outing.

I've had a bit of a testing session for the 2006 vintage of Chateau Fallow Buck, and wil hopefully bring you a taster!!

Best regards,

Hi 9.3x74R

I shot the buck in Sussex on a shoot that I run for game birds and deer.

If you are interested in doing some woodland stalking for Fallow, then drop my freind Richard a call at www.deerstalker.com

He is an excellent stalker & guide.

Best regards,
FB
