I got a DPMS 1"dia 24" SS fluted heavy barrel 1 in 8" twist AR-15. It has the tactical pistol grip and adjustable LOP. I topped it with a 6-25x Tasco target scope (it was what I had laying around). I have had it for a year but I haven't had the time to develope a load for it. I took it out to the range this week and tested 75gr Hornady BTHP w/ IMR 4895. I used .4gr incriments 22.0-23.6. I was able to group 5 rounds in .68" but four of the rounds grouped at .20". I think that I pulled the one shot. I am going to load some more this weekend to varify my load but I think that I found a great one. The only problem with this rifle is that it is front heavy and not well balanced for off hand shooting. But I got the rifle for prone and bench work anyways. Has anyone else had similiar experiences with these rifles and what loads does your gun like? [ 01-19-2003, 00:51: Message edited by: GBTX01 ]

Sounds like a great load to me.I like my Varmint rifles to be front heavy so follow up shots are quicker.I mostly use my shooting sticks or bipod so the heavier front end doesn`t bother my arms.Looks like you have a winning rifle and load to me.

i just sent my flattop upper to be rebarrelled. the configuration is a Kreiger barrel (.95" under the handguard and .812" after the gas block), 22", 1x9 twist and an aluminum free-floating handguard. it should be a shooter. if it is front heavy, i'll get some lead to place in the buttstock. i'm going to replace the stock trigger with a RRA NM trigger. I can't add any wait to the buttstock because I have the adjustable recoil pad to adjust the LOP. But you are right about it minimizing the recoil and muzzle jump.
