The Weaver V 16 or the 4.5 x 14 New Series they have out.

I am looking at scopes on top of a 22/250 also, and the Nikon Buckmaster with Mil Dot and 5 x 15 also look fairly good for under $300.00.

Bushnells 6 x18 ( not the 50mm $129.00 one) looked not bad for $220.00. Some nice features for the price.

Good luck,

Cheers and Good shooting

Ray,

You would be surprised at what you can get for your $300.00 over on Ebay. I grabbed a Leupold 6.5x20 EFR there for under that same amount five months ago. Lawdog

The Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14 with the mildot reticle can be had for $234.00 plus shipping from a couple places and the new 6x18 Buckmaster won't cost much more!!! I'f you can scrape another $90.00 bucks (over your $300.00 budget)together the Bushnell Elite 6x24 with mil dots can be had and so can the 6.5-20 Nikon Monarch!!! Look around over at gunbroker auctions! Ray, What chambering is the VLS in? Also one I forgot to mention but seafire did is the 5-15 Bushnell Elite.....$250.00!!GHD

I used the Tasco on my first competition gun and preferred it on 40x. I shot it out to 1000 yards and it served me well. I imagine quality control is an issue with Tasco (or their parent company), and this accounts for their reputation. I think I got a good one. I really enjoyed beating people who were using Nightforce scopes.

Now I have a new Weaver T36. Nice.
