I tried the new Barnes Varmint Grenade bullet in an Anshutz 22 hornet. Despite being the same length as a 40 grain V-max the bullet does not seem to stablize in a 1:16 twist. 5 shot groups were about 5" at 100 yds and the bullet holes were oblong in shape.

JC,

What do the varmint grenades weigh?
They are definitely not stabilizing in your rifle.

I almost picked up a box to try in my Triple Deuce. They're advertized as a hypervelocity projectile hence there are probably better choices for the medium velocity crowd. The Hornady SPSX or the Sierra Blitz, for instance.

the bullets are 36 grain, but mine are the same length as a 55 gr sierra HP. they work well in my K hornet but that has a 12" twist & 300 more fps

Length is a major factor in stabilization, but so is velocity. If you are not using LilGun powder that might be a big help.
